Postcard from Australia
by ozziepost instrong gale force winds and storms have been lashing the coast of new south wales for the past two weeks bringing unseasonally cool to cold weather.
the bush fires that had been burning throughout the state's interior have been extinguished.
now the state government has had to react to the new storm damage disaster and the state emergency service has been working around the clock for the past week to repair and cover damaged roofs.

Thank you for your post.
I questioned a mutual friend as to the decreasing publisher and service time figures in Australia.
He suggested the fact that you 'Can't tell an Australian what to do' was behind many problems in the Australian field.
Australians do not obey orders! It seems that a growing number of JW's are becoming Australian - at least in attitude!

by josephus init seems to me that we are searching continually for newer and better dirt on the wtbts.. now we hear about jw child abusers.
child abuse is still a newish thing in the public eye.
we see the same mistakes .

did any of you read the entire bible once...?
by Richie injust wanted to know if any of you have read the entire bible?
- i remember that it was mentioned in the congregation many times that this would be a requirement that we were to read the bible in its totality at least once and especially as elders!.
i myself never had the time (or energy) to read the scriptures from cover to cover.

I read it several times.
lol, Well done! Now try reading it with the page numbers at the top of the page.
Well, I admit to having read in its entirety the NWT a number of times (6) as well as the NIV, Lattimore, and a few others.
My own preference as a 'reading copy' is the New Jerusalem and as to the NT, without doubt William Barclay's translation.

Elders__How KM School Today????????????

bro sam herd is doing the honors of instructing them in the ways of jehovah- a brotha for a gb=== i love it.

Hello,
At a KM School in the late 80's I actually fell asleep in the back row for around twenty minutes.
When I awoke and gave way to a bleary eyed yawn, I turned to the fellow elder next to me who was nursing his own glazed look, and asked, 'Did I miss anything?'. He answered meekly, 'I don't know, I fell asleep'.
This sums up the whole scenario. A dismal marketing-style drone, interrupted by an oasis of a coffee break every so often.
My own hero was a tousle-haired eccentric, a long-term elder who repeatedly refused to go the School as in his own words, ‘I’ve heard all that stuff before'. We all loved him, but he was eventually turned in by a skinny, uninspiring little fellow with a complexion like marzipan, who cleaned carpets for a living and gloried like a Caesar in his fifteen Theocratic minutes of fame.
As to the removed elder, his only comment was, 'At least I have a bit more time for the 'ole garden now'.

by Cygnus ini don't feel like i am a mindless robot and i resent the implication.. most jws try their sincere best when it comes to practising godly devotion, but isn't the 1000 yr. reign supposed to unroot all our bad tendencies?.
here in new york and across the usa racial tensions between 'blacks and whites' are very strong.
for some of that to spill into our brotherhood is natural.

Although the Society may be wrong about 607 BCE, that still does not necessarily make 1914 wrong. 2520 years may all be hogwash, but world events and Jesus' sign prophecy may enough to keep the doctrine afloat for some (I personally know of some who feel this way). We teach 1914 because the Society directs us to. Why? Because they are still right in so many other outstanding ways.
I have heard these sentiments spoken by one of the GB themselves almost to a point. I am not of course suggesting that he wrote this note, but that it relects the growing mindset at senior level.
What seems to be clear is that the 607-1914 chronology is being overhauled and the focus is being placed on visible evidence rather than chronological.

OK - here is one for your original list, imho the single most defining discovery that the flood was not universal.
A number of years ago in Cheddar Gorge, England a skeleton was discovered. It is dated at 9.700 years of age. In a remarkable coincidence a TV producer doing a documentary in the area, had its teeth checked for a special DNA trace. After taking DNA samples from some persons living in the local village a perfect match was found.
Now, YEC will scream out loud the inadequacies of Carbon 14 testing over this issue but can present no reasonable explanation as to how an unbroken genetic link could be found in the same area given the geologic acrobatics necessary to adhere to a universal deluge and also given the age of the artifacts buried with the skeleton.
