ever heard two six year old's arguing?.
typically it turns to name calling and "i know you are but what am i" exchanges fairly rapidly.. would we walk up to a 6 year old or a mentally challenged adult and engage in one of these ridiculous, non-productive and demoralizing exchanges?.
Stuff we wouldn't do offline that we do here.
Act like such tedious 'know-it-all's', that most sane people would not want to spend more that 22-23 seconds in our company, unless of course they are accompanied by a large bottle of Scotch and a good book.

i was introduced by means of a reference in a novel to a french scientist, theologian and philosopher, teilhard de chardin (1881 - 1955).
i've not actually read any of the guy's stuff, as i only today got round to having a look on the internet, but it's interesting stuff.. as a paleontologist, de chardin has a rather dodgy past - he was either taken in by or part of the piltdown man conspiracy.
as a theologian he was an unconventional jesuit priest and roman catholic, eventually assigned to china due to his unconventional beliefs.

Teilhard De Chardin, as you note was an extraordinary visionary, I have been had a deep respect for his iconoclastic thinking since my youth. His belief in the 'world of man' is a pleasant change from the shackled guilt motivated views of Augustine, which imho have actually moulded Western thinking along irrational and negative lines.
It was Chardin who drove me from an staunchly atheistic stance to Theism, in my early more revolutionary years as a threadbare student!
I would highly recommend his work, 'The Phenomenon Of Man', which seeks to provide a logical synthesis between science and the spirit.

Apostates are clearly not in agreement then, because the intent of the original poster was to prove that disfellowshipping is not Scriptural.
I read the intent of the original post as trying to prove the the WTS process of disfellowshipping is unscriptual. Perhaps BillParker can clarify that for us.
As a fellow apostate, which you surely are as you are not in theological agreement with those you claim to follow, I welcome you to the valley of apostate vipers. I think few people would argue with handing you the title of Grand Poobah Viper, as you are certainly the most venom filled of our brood.

The issue is not whether the process of disfellowshipping is scriptual. An arrangment for 'shunning' was clearly alluded too by Paul in an issue that deveveloped in 1 Corinthians 5:5.
The point is whether disfellowshipping as practiced by WTS bears any resemblance to the suggestions made by Paul as to how to deal with discipling those who fail their calling.
I believe that the WTS has gone beyond scripture and instituted an arrangement that is offensive to Christ. They have done this on the basis that they are the FDS and have the right to do so. I question this premise also.
The WTS arrangment for shunning bears very close resemblance to those originally instituted by the Quakers and other 'new age' religions of the C18th. They did not invent the system but cannabalised it from the pieces torn away from other faiths.
So the question is not, is shunning scriptual, as it surely is. It is, is the WTS guilty of 'adding words' to the scriptures to suit their own ends?
That the arrangment is continually being adjusted, shows that even they are aware that it is not as simple an issue as you would have us believe.

well you should know why and how such names are used and why they are used purposefully by the wts.. awake june 22 ,2000 page 6. some people insult those who disagree with them by questioning character or motives instead of focusing on the facts.
Personally, I think for some of you the more descriptive moniker of "apostate Bozo" is even more fitting. LOL / You Know

it looks like the wts finally put 2 and 2 together on the us branchs failing statistics over the past few years, particularly the years 97 - 01. what happened?.
in the latter part of 1996 cos instructed elders that congregation bookstudy conductors (soon to be officially called "congregation bookstudy overseers) should not initially ask congregation publishers for their field service time reports.
instead, each congregation should have a small box so that publishers could "shoulder their own responsibility by turning in time of their own accord," by voluntarily putting their report slip into this box.

When I heard that this new 'arrangement' was being instituted I was somewhat stunned.
I could not believe that the WTS did not not see that most JW's would see through this 'arrangement' very rapidly.
A quick call to a Branch insider a couple of weeks ago re-iterated that this was, in his words a 'moral booster' for the average JW's. When I asked why their moral would need boosting, he chuckled and said, 'Come On, XXXX, you have been around longer than that!'.
Just a cynical PR ploy, as transparent as glass. Can you imagine Marvin, the CO's report when he lists his usual list of, '5 hour publishers', next to a huge list of '15 minute publishers'.

This is just a discussion group, no more no less. What happens here is hardly likely to be of much interest to the rest of mankind. I know that we are all smarting from our association with the WTS but you will find that underneath the verbal sparring, people here are open to learning if things are presented in the right manner.
