Did you wear your badge outside the convention, so as to "give a witness?"
by truthseeker inthis year at the dc, we were expressly told to wear our badges at all times, even when going to a restaurant or some place else, so we could "give a witness.".
did any of you hear follow through with this arrangement?
did you have one of those "fantastic" experiences, when someone commented on your badge?.

I'd run on the "Bull Moose" ticket and ask Yeru to retire from service and be my VP! "Walk softly and carry a big stick" works for me!
A few of you guys would get the nod for Cabinet posts. Valis, Just2 laws and Gary B. to name a few... Minimus gets the nod for "inquisitor gerneral".
Animal-- who know's, Sec of Transportation?
Chevysntats-- the intern job is yours... unless the Department of Labor gig is more your speed!

What are the flaws of this forum?
by Vita Nuova inas much information, insight and entertainment this forum provides, some things about its format and design have come to annoy me.
let me start by saying that i think one of the biggest weaknesses of this forum may be the active topics option at the top.
it seems to me that some people may use this option just to see which topics are still alive.

Well, back when I was little we would wait outside and look for smoke rising from far away ridges. The smoke would come up in timed puffs, like code. then we would mimic the code and relay it so the folks on the next ridge could share the news.
Then a few years later we would run to the Telegraph office... even if we did'nt get a message the rythm of the recievre, dot dash dash dot dot .... was amazing! Later while 'a horsback on the praries we would pass time listing to the dots a dashes send vibrations down the poles that elevated the telegraph wires.
Even later, as a young man, I remember the crank telephone....."Edna!..Get me Doc Hanson over in Green River!"..... ahh, those were the days!

I knew Steve Lett, his brother Tim and his parents, Mark and Jean Lett. Mark and Jean studied with my folks in the early 70's. Steve was down from Bethel a few times. Mark was later a CO in IL. We wer near Clarksville Arkansas at the time. The Lett's were from B'ham Alabama and Mark made millions in the exterminating business after WW2 and the 50's. Steve did a few circuit tours too.
Mom has a picture of Steve and his wife (ANN?) in his folks trailer.... He was, maybe 25, at the time. A big deal too as he was "unusually young to be of the annointed". He never had a lot to say and seemed to be a humorless young man trying to seem mature to me. It was also a big deal that he was married - I guess in the early 70's it took a act off God to keep a wife at the 'big house".
