has been in league with business etc etc living off its profits and all that, should jws set up in business?
I seem to have read some papers that noted self - employment is a common tool among JW's and other cults to limit association with the outside world.
Besides a few of the "brothers" need to have a business to provide meaningful employment to the other "brothers"... I tried working for a few JW's over the years and would rather swim with sharks.

only a few more months to go and i will cross over into the 30 and over club.
there are some things i have learned along the way...the jws will never go away....the confusion of being an xjw never goes away...parenting is so much different without the jw component...sometimes my 3 yr old daughter is the wisest person i know, as childish as that sounds...xmas starts to finally make sense, through her eyes...birthdays finally start to have meaning with each new year adding onto the experience of the year before.... i also have finally gleamed something rather painful as well...i will never really have my parents back as the way it used to be.
i think that i have finally come to more of a grip with that.

i attended the 2004-2005 circuit assembly this past weekend.
the internet, online chat rooms, and jw online dating was mentioned several times both days.
during both the circuit overseer's final talk on sunday and the district overseer's final talk sunday they both spent several minutes talking about how the internet poses a serious danger to god's people.
Yet a number of friends aren't heeding the warnings. [The D.O. reads a couple of scriptures] Brothers and Sisters lets make this the last assembly we have to be warned about the Internet, let's listen to Godly wisdom."
Dealing with the masses via ultimatum again, are we? No good ever comes of that.
Sounds to me like they are losing control. The net is forcing thier hand. Information is a dangerous thing and the wholesale investagative potential of the internet scares the bejesus ot of Brooklyn.
During other talks pleas were made to young people. I didn't take notes, but the main thought was that taking in Godly Wisdom is much more valuable than worldly wisdom or education. A university education can teach you about Alexander the Great, but only Jehovah can introduce you to him in the coming New World. Young ones were encouraged to listen to Jehovah, the Organization, their parents, and the elders. Then an experience was related of a young brother that led a double life, only to come back to Jehovah a few years later, and then die of AIDS
Same tune ........ new dance hall..... they have been using this kind of tactic since Hector wore knee pants. Maybe thats why the JW kids still leave in droves?

maybe its not america or its way of life as such that winds us foreigner whingers up .
maybe its not america that invaded iraq.
maybe its religion, the religious elemnet found in most western countries but to a much larger degree in the us.
Just for your information there are some , well, very "moral" liberals out there. Religion is something that people sometimes "choose" (as opposed to some of you born into it JW's). As religion is a persons choice and the United States allows freedom of Religious choice we are bound to have some religious leanings bantered around in the politics of this country.
Get over it. Fact is the "liberal" Democatic Party didnt get it done this year. I have to commend the turnout this year. Lots of folks got involved. What the Republican Party has sucessfully done is find some people they can market to, namely the "religious right". The Democrat's failed to adress the real issues of ecomomics and military and security issues. Both sides Pander to the emotional issues like gays, abortion prayer in schools and a host of other hot button items that get folks worked up.
One last thing here.... why does the Federal Government need to have a say in much of anything anyway. By the Consitution about they only thing they should do is collect taxes and provide for the common defense of the nation.
All the issues you guys seem so upset about are STATES issues...or County issues. IF your county at large wants demand abortions and your life style makes abortion a necessary thing find a county that allows abortion and move there. This whole Gay marriage thing really amounts to a argument over portability of issues. Its a businesse thing kids. Business.

elders and their family/friends always seem to have certain ones that they were close to.
i knew of only a few that didn't lament they never seemed to fit into the "clique".
I like a good clique myself. They are wonderful tools that help one rapidly ascertain who to dislike as individuals become a tidy little package. I always found effictive packaging of "like minded" people freed up so much of my limited time and always wholeheartedly appreciated the effort those in those cliqes gave to form their little groups.

Not a doubt about it minimus... one could bullshit their way through the process... as I grew older I saw it way to often.
Who in there right mind let you get baptized at 9? that just aint right. I guess I was lucky. My congregation had some decent men as elders at the time. Of course, most of them are not JW's anymore..go figure.

since leaving the dubs 5 years ago i have gained a new appreciation for this life.
since this life is the only one i know for sure that i have i have tried to take every opportunity that comes my way.
well, for a few years now i have been entertaining the idea of planning my escape from the american rat-race.

If I knew what I know now I'd be settling in for the winter at some godforsaken Montana line shack. There would be a couple of colts to line out up there with me and a feed wagon ready to go.
If you have a marketable skill the only thing to fear is fear itself. Who can you hurt by your actions? Sounds like you have to answer only to your self. Go for it.
At worst you can write a cheap novel based on your experiences.. who really cares if we cant go back? all the fun is found going forward!
