i just wanted to take a survey.

let's not let this get into the same old same old debate of atheism vs belief.

just respond with "atheist" or "believer" or "maybe god exists".

You are actually right. I am an agnostic. I never have, and never would, claim otherwise.

The reason I’m an agnostic is because I don’t have the gumption; or the ego; to claim that I know the Theory of Everything. I realize that there’s still a lot about the universe and existence that we don’t know. So if I were to walk around trying to say that I knew for a fact that gods don’t exist, I wouldn’t blame you if you thought me to be somewhat dishonest… or, at the very least, presumptuous.

So no, I can’t be 100% certain that some sort of “creative force”, or whatever, doesn’t exist.

But please… tell me… why does that mean I’m not an atheist?

Just because I don’t know doesn’t mean I can’t decide whether or not I believe in a higher power… and the fact is, I don’t. I do not believe in a higher power. I do not believe that we were created by anything. I do not believe that the universe was created by anything. And because I do not believe, I am an atheist. Yes, I am an agnostic. But I am also an atheist.

You see, atheism is, simply translated, a lack of theism. And what is theism? The belief in a higher power or powers. Since I do not have that belief, I am an atheist.

One more thing, I also agree with this comment, which was under the chart in my lnk above:

This is a dumb chart and tries to make completely unneeded distinctions. Virtually all atheists would change their position given evidence of a god or something we call synonymous with god (.e. aliens that made earth). They would also agree that Jesus was really the son of god if these aliens or gods told them that this was true. We probably would still find them repugnant for all the same reasons we find God repugnant now. Atheists, agnostics and frankly many religious people live in a way as if god doesn't exist. So who cares what the minute difference is? Why the hell do we have all these other words that mean the same things also? (freethinker, humanists, brights, blah blah blah)

Christ Alone: The chart on the page below is one that I agree with. (But as I have stated, many believers and unbeliever totally reject these descriptions. Further, many agnostics see themselves as sitting on a fence, having not made a decision.)

Christ Alone: May I ask you a question? I have discovered (in recent months) that many believers and unbelievers reject ther term "agnostic atheist" as being accurate and/or legitimate. Where do you stand on that?

How do I disprove "New Light"?

i currently am a jw and my parents are too.they seem either confused or dislike it when i raise questions and recently, when i questioned them about 1925 and 1975, i've been told it's changed due to "new light.

" i don't remember nor do i have very much knowledge of "new light.".

this "new light" just dosen't sit with me and neither do the false prophecies.new light first of all, breaks a scripture in deut.

Think of the many JWs who would rather die in this system of things, rather than face the final test at Armageddon.

It would be preferrable to die a martryr, than to risk eternal torment in Hell. Being a martyr allows one to gain eternal salvation the quick way.
