having experienced the shunning of nearly all my old friends, i realize that although wt can not stop you from expressing your own thoughts (free will), they certainly do have enough control mechanisms in place to make you less likely to do so.

i was an open apostate for awhile, not on purpose, was just expressing myself to anyone who would listen about how we had been duped.....lied to about certain things.

i chose to shut up and shut down for the most part since i knew a full df would be even harder on my wife and our marriage.

well, in the past couple of months the elders still havent met with me again regarding the porneia accusation.

either they are waiting for the circuit overseer visit next week to ask them what to do, or they wrote to bethel, or the sister decided not to lie anymore, i am not sure.

but seems like the elders are really after me.

Did you understand doctrine when you were "in"?

did you ever actually understand most of the doctrine when you were a jw?

or did you think that you didn't understand it because you didn't study enough?

It would seem that I did NOT understand the most important UNWRITTEN doctrine.

The following question should be added to the baptism questions: "Do you agree to remain a JW, even if you PROVE to yourself from the Bible that we have misled you and we are not truly God's organization?"

This refreshing dose of honesty would have likely prevented me from getting baptized.

But, to answer your question, "yes" I understood the doctrines and felt very comfortable discussing them with non-JWs.
