Right. Steve Hassan talks about this. He encourage concerned family members to ask cult members if the cult has delivered the things it promised to them, e.g., a paradise earth right around the corner, a spiritual paradise, real friends, etc.

I think it will become increasingly difficult to recruit new members in developed nations. Especially people that don't have any previous affiliation with JWs, such as co-workers and family members.
Broadband internet is the key, in my opinion. When my Dad was first contacted by the JWs in 1985, there was no option of using Google, in the privacy of his own home, to put these new teachings from "God's organization" to the test.
JW children can find the real truth in only a few clicks.
Cults need effective Information Control to keep their members enslaved. This is becoming more difficult each and every day.

Thanks for sharing that with us. I know I sound like a broken record, but the Mind Control never ceases to amaze me. People who have never been in a cult or studied cults/mind control would never believe this stuff, and yet we can give so many examples of it.

JW runs when he hears the word "Jesus"
by Honesty inthis morning i was in the office of a company that i do business with.
3 women were in the office and they all asked me how i was doing since i had major surgery last month.. i told them that i was recovering but it was kind of disappointing when i woke up in the recovery room instead of at the pearly gates.. one of the women said, "god must have more for you to do here.".
at which i replied, "yes, there are so many lost people who don't know jesus.".

How do they do this? I think this is really what we are exploring. Wouldn't this require some thought?

Cult members must be blind followers. They receive instructions and they follow them, even if they don't make any sense.
When they feel uneasy about any of this, they quickly tell themselves that "this is Jehovah's will". They are made to feel that if they are uncertain about something, the problem is with them, that they have a lack of faith, because the Society is not wrong.
I realize how absurd all of this sounds. I can assure you, however, that it's all too true, unfortunately.
