  good tv shows?

  hello just wanted to ask what tv shows do u guys watch?

  we have limited choices over here but now i know where to get tv rips (evil me)..anyways..what are good to consider?

  some shows i'm into are sex and the city, friends, and felicity that's about it..southpark too but dont get to watch now..ahh yah i watched survivor too and fear factor when i get to catch it..

  I regularly watch The Discovery Channel, The History Channel, and The Learning Channel when I'm browsing around.

  But there are three shows that I'll set the VCR to see.

  Buffy The Vampire Slayer, Angel, and Farscape. All three shows are funny because they know how campy they are and play to that as a strength. But they also have serious storylines where main characters actually change over the course of the show--something rare on Television in the US.

  I think Farscape is the best Sci-Fi show on TV. (Sorry, Logical, but Voyager is the worst of the Trek franchise--though Enterprise looks like it will surpass it.)

  I also do my best to catch Cirque de Soleil on Bravo. Those people are frelling amazing!

  i'd be interested in hearing some of the exjw's door-to-door experiences.

  i've probably had the saturday morning door knocking...maybe 6-8 times.

  i've never been "rude" except for once...when i had a particularly aggressive pair who wouldn't take "no thank you" for an answer.

  99.99% of the JWs hate it with a passion. JWs quickly learn the art of being literally as ineffective as possible "in service," including pretending to ring the bell.

  Whenever someone is rude to JWs, the talk for the rest of the day is how they're really rejecting Jehovah; how they've been marked as worthy of destruction at Armageddon; how the dubs who were yelled at will go back and live in that home when the rude owner is destroyed; how the dubs are enduring under intense persecution when a door is slammed in their face.

  Then again, JWs live with a persecution/martyr complex. If they get short-changed at the grocery store, they twist it into some plot by Satan against them. If their family members do some research (gasp) and decide that they don't believe the things the JWs teach anymore, it's all a big plot by said family member to make the "faithful" dubs miserable.

  kind of wondering.. obviously, i'm aware of the society's hypocrasy re: the un.

  i've been talking about it with family members, and finally one threw out a question i didn't know offhand.. if the library card excuse is false (i am pretty sure it is), then why did they join?.

  considering their public position on the un, it would only be a matter of time after joining that the details would come back to haunt them, so why risk it?.

  44th Grammy Awards Discussion

  1. ozomatli's grammy for "embrace the chaos" was actually a make-up grammy for last year.

  their self-entitled cd last year is the bomb--but embrace the chaos is only ok. ozomatli is a street band from la and if you haven't listened to them, you are missing real talent not just samples and hooks.. 2. nelly furtado got snubbed.

  i thought it was pathetic, the way alicia keys won everything.

  Don't be too hard on yourself. 5 of 12 is still 5 better than God's Sole Channel of Communication ever got.

  I became a big fan of India Arie's this summer, when she toured with Sade. She has a positive message and a powerful voice that fills the arena. I don't think even her album does justice to her voice. She really got snubbed. I'm sure she was thinking that with seven nominations she'd win at least one award. Still, it's seven nominations more than most performers will ever get.

  Alicia Keys is undoubtedly talented. She wrote, arranged, produced, and played all the instruments on her album. She also took the album photo, made her own clothes, did her own braids, and changed a flat tire on her limo on the way to the awards. She's much more than just a pretty face.

  I was really surprised that O Brother Where Art Thou won album of the year. But to be fair, I think George Clooney is a horrible, mechanical, wooden actor who gets paid to thrust out his perfect jaw, so maybe I was biased against anything to which he is connected. (I know many of you will say the same about some of the female leading ladies of our times, but I'd rather watch protruding boobies than jaws.) Still, I must admit that I was tapping my toes to the live performance... even if it did make me think of Deliverance.

  I wouldn't call it an "attempt" to validate or credit posters. I think Celtic's heart was in the right place. With all of the sniping that goes on sometimes, it's nice to see a thread started with the purpose of giving posters a pat on the back.

  With that said, I also cringe a little when I see threads like this, because I think it eventually turns into a popularity contest, and it does seem sometimes that cliques nominate their own.

  But ultimately, who cares? Personally, I'd rather see the various opposing factions compete to see how well they can build their own up, rather than how well they can tear the other side down.

  Sade is also nominated for Best Female Pop Album

  Wrong categories for her. She should be in Jazz, Adult Contemporary, or R&B maybe, but POP? Besides, Sade is technically the band, not just the lead singer.

  I'm hoping she wins as a sort of lifetime achievement award, but I doubt it.

  just a thought ... when describing jws and what they believe, be sure to tell people that they think they are immortal and will never die as this seems to sound a bit more 'looney tunes' than that they will live forever.. well, does to me anyway.

  did you ever imagine how it sounded to joe public on the door while you showed them a crappy picture of 'paradise' from the livre forever book?
