The funny and the laughable
by Heartbreaker inrelative was reinstated recently .
then....i get a voicemail (from an ignored phone call) from my mother asking to have the youngest three kids this weekend, for "something fun for the kids" and since they can't fit more than 3 in thir car, they want the youngest, and this on the heels of me sending a email to state that i was remembering some damaging things from my childhood (father confirmed pedophile, but until recently it was assumed i was excluded from this) and that i needed some time and some space.
her reply was that i shouldn't let things affect my relationship with jehovah, ruin all the hard work i've done in keeping my kids with jehovah in their heart, and that she did the best she could.

No advice but I wouldn't let my kids go with my dad in that situation either. Best wishes.

Explaining what DF'd means to a non-witness
by babygirl30 ini actually had to do this twice in the past 2 weeks - and it's really shaken things up!
the first time was last week.
my aunt (who lives out of state) asked me how my parents were doing (her brother and my mom)?

Yes, I did recently. I was talking to a friend about the JW's. She has been with me on my journey to enlightenment . I have shared with her all I have learned. She asked why I didn't just tell my mom how I felt about the witnesses now. Then I told her about Apostacy and how my family and 'friends' would have to shun me because of my newfound discoveries. She was absolutely disgusted. She kept saying, "That's a cult, QE, that's a cult." And I see now that it is a cult.

Not everyone is singing the songs? This is one of the concerns? It's ridiculous. Not the single parents struggling to make ends meet, the family without health insurance who works at a janitorial company or local shopping mall.
And also, if you can't stretch out during the song, when can you? During the talk, or prayer? Whatever. Glad I'm gone.

Stupidest JW meeting answers
by GapingMouth ini was thinking about some stupid non-sensical answers i have heard over the years.
"we all know the blue whale is the biggest fish"
"we were on the ministry and met a coloured couple.

We had a sister at our hall who always managed to incorporate something she had seen on the Animal Planet or Discovery Channel into her comment. We would crack up at how she tried to tie it all together.

The long term effects of losing friends and family through shunning
by finding my way ini've recently been thinking about this topic as i've been finding old friends on facebook etc.
that were just gone one day because either their whole family da'd themselves or they had been df'd.
not to mention the friends i lost when i myself was df'd.. most of my life i found this losing of friends normal because it was what i was used to.

I always had a hard time with the D/F policy. It was difficult for me to shun others and pretend they didn't exist. I hated this policy and now that I know it is wrong, I really hate it.

QuestioningEverything
Yes-I do. I did when I was a witness -although I lived daily with the guilt of never doing enough.. I have always been comfortable with myself and fairly confident. Today- I am much more at ease with myself as far as my decision making.

We had an elder that said some forms of kissing were fornication. This same elder wanted everybody to pronounce "Isaiah" the same way the brother reading it on the bible tapes pronounced it. That guy is from England/Scottland/Ireland(sorry, not sure) and not Midwest United States. He would even correct people while he was on the stage if they mispronounced it. He was such an a**hole.
