I did a few years ago. It was a surreal experience. I learned the man who i helped died about 18 months later.

i don't mean you advised them and they changed their lives around, kind of saving a life.. i mean right before your eyes, right now, you had to do something to save a person or they would be dead.. how did it make you feel?
did it have any affect on you?.
forty years ago i was working on a construction site and a back-hoe had loosened a large boulder.

just wondering.. do you agree/disagree with capital punishment?.
are there any circumstances that would justify it?.
or is taking any human life unacceptable, regardless of the crime?.
I also want to say, as a Court Recorder, I am in the courtroom during all types of trials-both civil and criminal. One particular trial was a murder case. The victim was a 2 year old little boyand he was beat to death by his mom's boyfriend.
That poor baby was battered to death. He had bruises on top of bruises, a lacerated liver, bruising on his lung and heart and cigarette burns all over his body and these are not all his injuries! The pictures were devastating to see. I cried when i left the courtroom that morning.
The guy who did this does not deserve to live. He is a demon, a monster. I would feel no sympathy whatsoever if he was to be executed.
And again, i don't want to have to pay my hard earned money for the upkeep of this monster in prison.

If one of my loved ones was a victim of a violent crime and it was proven beyond a reasonable doubt that the defendant was guilty, i would not blink an eye at their execution. I don't think that they deserve to live and i certainly don't want to pay for their long term stay in prison.
i was asked by a friend to design a book cover for her book of poems and finally after 3 designs found one she was happy with.
the publishers sent me a lovely response and asked if they could pass my details on to anyone who wanted cover art as i was obviously a professional.
was both surprised and delighted.
That is wonderful!! Best wishes on this new endeavor.
Welcome..
I was when i was 21. Got reinstated 2 years later.
since being out mentally and missing meetings my children mention people from the hall and i cant help but feel bad that they are missing the association.
my daughters are 4 and 2 and we live in a small town with not a whole lot to do.
what activities did you do with your kids?
Are there any youth/toddler athletic activities or dance classes in your area? I know a lot of those places start out at very young ages. And kudos to you for upping your 'dad' game!
thats how my grand mother responded when all of our family members came out of jw organization, either by disassociation or by disfellowshipping.. when we all started studying with jws, my grandmother too was there, but she stopped the study when the discussion over the dead happened.
she told the study conductor: i am convinced that there is only life, but no death.
because when my husband died of heart attack, i was not shaken by the incident.
OMG really?!! evil spirits? PEOPLE STILL BELIEVE THAT CRAP? It's always some old woman from some far off country that remembers
some incident from childhood. I'm a middle aged man...was a jw for decades and have never heard of anyone of a right mind having
any experiences with evil spirits. I have heard 100's of stories of old times and demon activity but absolutely no one that personally saw anything..GROW
UP
i am not a jehovah's witness but i am very interested, i have many questions and hope they can be answered here.. i do believe in god, privately.
i do say my prayers daily and do believe god helps me in countless ways.
but i don't go to any church.. i have always been impressed at how smart, polite and nice jehovah's witnesses are and i always make time to speak to them when they call at my door.
welcome and I'm so glad you researched here first. I have but three words for you....don't do it!!!
My expert opinion {based on 20+ years} is that they are nothing but a cult. I spent my formative years completely engulfed by
this organazation. I have spent my entire adult life in therapy trying to lesson the anxiety and stress that comes from living every day
expecting the end of the world to come. My mother said that my brother and sister would never graduate from highschool {college is looked down on}.
That was in 1975! I graduated 10 years later...two of my sons have now graduated and going to COLLEGE...oh and my brother died, needing a blood
transfusion, which is forbidden by jw's. Your life will change completely, in ways you couldn"t now imagine. The list of jw no no's is so arbitrary and silly
I can't list them all...but I hope you don't like lucky charms cereal or girl scout cookies...cause you won't be allowed to purchase them. Anyways welcome
and good luck!! Oh yeah jw's can't use the phrase good luck either!!!!!!!!!!
the governing body not only lies to it's members about their true history but also about life itself, worldly people and former members.. here are some of those lies that come to my mind.. .
"jw's are the happiest people on earth" -.
fact: depression, anxiety, fear of punishment, paranoia, is what jw's live with every day.
great post!!! I was raised a witness and even in my mid 40's I still suffer from depression and anxiety. Now that i've been away from them awhile...whenever I see a witness, I can see the sadness in some of their faces. It's so sad!!
Does anyone know of data on this issue? Depression amongst jw's?
