I have came to the conclusion that all I learned while growing up as a witness is not the "truth'. I believe I have become agnostic in a short period of time. So, this year I decided that we are going to celebrate some holidays. Maybe not the traditional way everyone else does but in our own family's way. Yet, I feel VERY nervous and dont' understand why. Any thoughts on my anxiety over this?

My Elder Brother's Flip-Flopping Sucking Up to Appease My Elderly Parents
by flipper inwhere do i start ?

My in-law's are in their late 70's. My FIL made some very wise investments and has done well for himself financially. My SIL lives about 5 blocks away from them. My husband and their brother both live about 1 hour away. While my inlaws were out of town at an assembly, my SIL changed the locks on their house to 'protect' them from getting broken into. She is the only one with a key other than the parents. Who do you think will be over there first if anything happens? She is so greedy she makes me sick. She took in two foster kids just so she would not have to work and could get some government assistance for them. My FIL told my hubby that her requests for financial assistance was bleeding him dry. But .... because she is regular at the meetings and field service, she is in good standing with them.

Is crazy contagious?
by easyreader1970 infirst off, i apologize for the very unpolitically correct title to the thread.
the title that i wanted to make was this:.
will living with people who have serious and difficult to deal with psychological disorders cause someone else to experience mental problems of their own?.

Living with a person who has bipolar is difficult. I know from personal experience. My marriage was on the brink before my husband got stabilized. There are more than one med to choose from that can help with bipolar. As Blondie suggested National Alliance for the Mentally Ill has some wonderful information and resources available.

Update- My Wife shows worse signs of Mental Illness! I feel lost!
by Witness 007 in{this is in support of easyreader and his story} my wife hurt her back at work 6 months ago and since......................................... my wife switches from periods of reasonable happiness where we can talk and do things together....to intense rages breaking dishes....to sadness....to laughing at nothing in particular??
{i hate that the most} she is distant at times and has a short concentration span....she watched a one hour documentary for 2 hours since she continues to rewind sections...she leaves lights on all night and loses things.....these are just afew things.
she refuses treatment so don't ask.

I'm so sorry you are dealing with that. But there is hope. As the spouse of a person with Bi-polar, I know what it is like to deal with one who is untreated and unmedicated. Even if she is refusing treatment, you can petition the Court to have her admitted involuntarily. It is for her own safety and the safety of others. She may be mad at you at first but once she is stabilized, will be fine. I speak from experience. It was a terribly difficult decision to make but I feared my husband would do serious harm to himself and possibly us (kids included). He is 1000% better now. You could contact the local Community Mental Health Department and see if there are any support groups for you and for her. Treatment has made our lives so much better. Best Wishes.

Stupid mom.
by ColdRedRain inas a few of you know, i have a bit of money in my name.
however, here's the caveat: my bleeping dub mother is in charge of it.
i kept on telling my stupid dub mom to pull out my money while i can still buy a house and a car and forget that the girlfriend chasing, abusive, borderline personality disorder suffering bitch that's known as my mom ever existed.

I can't believe the disrespectful names you are calling your mom. It doesn't help to be like that if you want something from her. Is there a reason she is in charge of your finances?

I love Detroit!!! I go there 5-6 times a year with my family for different summer festivals and plays. You have to use common sense no matter what city you go to. We have never had any problems when going there. I won $200 at the casino. Great Casino's also. They get a bum rap but it is certainly not the worst place to visit by any means. GO PISTONS!!!

I thank you for sharing your story. Words cannot express how terrible I feel for you and your sons. I cried when I read it and then I cried again when I went home and shared it with my husband. I have 3 sons, just as you. Your story is the one that opened my eyes to how cruel this policy really is. I have read many stories about this sort of decision by a parent or loved one-always in WT literature-sugarcoated to make it sound admirable. It never occurred to me how it would really feel to make such a choice until I read your story.
I am sick to my stomach to think that even up to six months ago, I would have made the same choice as your ex- husband. I have ripped up my blood card from my wallet-I forgot it was in there. I hope others read your story and open their eyes as well. Please know you did what you thought was right at the time, as we all have made such decisions based on our belief's. Please know my thoughts are with you and take care.

I would still believe wholeheartedly and feel guilty daily that I was not living up to the expectations. Now, I feel like a weight has been lifted off my shoulders. There have been several websites combined that have helped me. JWD-JWFACTS and Freeminds.

Was There Any 1 Thread or Post or Subject That REALLY Got You Thinking???
by minimus infor me, i was attracted to concrete proofs, facts, published information that showed conclusively the errors of the watchtower.
i love seeing posts that prove the watchtower's hypocrisy.
i very much enjoyed reading anything historical from pre-bible students time to the present day.

I am not sure if it was on this website but what shocked me was the real truth about the 1975 prophecy. I had always been told that those friends who believed that 1975 was going to be the end were just mistaken. That they had misinterpreted something or made more out of it than there really was. I discovered that they believed that 1975 was going to be the end due to numerous articles in the magazines and publications. I was stunned. That led me to do some more research and I ended up finding JWD. And you know how the rest of the story goes. :) Thank goodness, I now know the "Truth".
