None. I just don't think I could sit in a church/mosque/temple, etc any time soon. That may change one day. IF I did go to any church ceremony, it would be the Unitarians'. They seem to be the closest to how I am feeling about religion at this time.

I never realized there was a talk specifically for funerals. It's shameful to have only a few minutes spoken word about a person who has passed.

How many lives have been RUINED by the Organization? Experiences?
by BonaFide ini think that some people deserve to be excommunicated, such as pedophiles.
but what about the tens of thousands of others that have their life wrenched out from under them by being disfellowshipped?.
and what about those that have a family member that died because of not receiving a blood transfusion?

I have a 16 y old son. There is NO way in the world that I would allow him to make a lifelong decision at such a young age. He's not old enough to vote, buy property or sign a legal document. Yet, when I was "13", I was baptised. Jesus was baptised at age 30. Now tat I am out, I don't miss the guilt, the doom and gloom attitude or any of the judgmental people associated with the religion.

Two days after I was reinstated, we attended a circuit assembly. One elder who seen me(he attended a different cong.) said,"yeah, I heard you were reinstated, hope you stay that way." WTF!!! He was an arrogant, pompous a**hole.

The fact that they change their major doctrines every few years or so-blood transfusions, college, D/F policies, and claim it is divinely inspired! I, too was heartbroken when I realized they were not the "truth". I am so thankful that I am not in that ridiculous mess anymore!!!!!

Did the elders in your congregation give counsel to those that were DATING? Good or bad counsel?
by BonaFide ini have heard some doozies.
some elders forbid the couple from sitting together at the meetings unless they are engaged.
i have heard that said from the platform.

Our congregation had an elder that mentioned during his talk that french kissing was considered porneia and that one could be DF'd for it-whether married or not. A few weeks later, it was brought up in the local needs talk(by a different elder) that french kissing was NOT porneia.

Watchtower in Michael Jackson's Will???
by Confucious inwallstreet journal today is reporting about mj's will.. they are saying that it's his mother, three children and "one or more" charities.. what do you think the odds are that the wt is one of them?.
i remember for the jackson's victory tour (a very long time ago) - that they donated most of that tour money to a "unnamed" charity.. and i always suspected that the wt were the recepients.. and thoughts?.
-
QuestioningEverything
I hope they are NOT in the will. Years ago when he disassociated himself, they used to say that listening to his music was like having him in the room conversating. Seems to me that taking his evil money would be wrong for them to do.

by StoneWall inbeing born and raised a jw i didn't think any other religion or group of people could come close to having to deal.
with what we do as far as loosing family, friends, workmates etc.
because of beliefs.. when i read on ex-mormon and ex-scientologist sites it makes me sad that they too are going thru some horrendous.

QuestioningEverything
I looked at an Ex-Mormon site a while back and was surprised to see how similar it was to my upbringing and feelings. It made me feel sad that others had to deal with the same kind of crap.
