the fine art of wt-style deceptive writing.
the other day, i happened across this watchtower press release from june of last year, relating to the changes surrounding the blood transfusions df-ing policy.
so far, so good.. paragraph two: .
Duncan;
Yes how clever they are at the art of half truths (out right lies) to the general public. While the r&f just blindly follow. Their slogan should be "see how holy we are, you dumb ass" it would show the true attitude that exists about anyone not a witness.

i've been interested in the discussion on the 'for those of us who believe in god' thread and aguest wrote this:.
"we have been misled into understand what 'faith' really is.".
if we have all been misled, then can someone explain what exactly faith really is?
Silverleaf;
Faith according to the NWT:
Faith is the assured exception of things hoped for, the evident demonstration of realities not beheld. Heb11:1
I used to believe that in light of what the WT teaches. With their erroneous history, no current member can be assured of anything and certainly the WT does not deal in realities.

it is true that many persons have been disfellowshipped wrongly, but what is more disturbing is how a person's life could be so totally destroyed.
this reminds me of an incident that happened some years ago where a sister was disfellowshipped for this reason:.
she found out that her witness husband had been having sex with an animal.
Hello Richie;
I guess you asked and answered your own question.
Quote:
>>The disfellowshipped sister was so discouraged and shaked by the earlier decision to cast her off that she left the Organization. Yet years later the Society changed their stand on this issue and now this same sister would not have been disfellowshipped for the course of action she undertook at an earlier stage...
Now, would this ex-sister be re-instated in her absentia in the congregation or would she be viewed as a "wicked" person for the rest of her natural life so long as she doesn't return back to the fold????
What would be the right thing the Society should do? Of course restore her credibility and re-instate her even as an ex-sister, for that would be the loving thing to do. Of course not..the Society's thinking is to stay loyal to God's organization and follow the letter of the law (rule) and put as secondary the life of a person...<<
By the way, is this example from Ray's book?

the whole idea of disfellowshipping someone from the congregation has always been a source of contention with me.
maybe it's because they disfellowshipped my husband a month before we got married for something totally lame (i would go into it but then it would give my identity away).
just trust me when i tell you that it was only done out of jealousy.
Tweetie;
Isn't that the same contention that many have about disfellowshipping? Yes having a brain to determine if you chose to associate with someone or not is not up to the dub population. It must be mandated to love someone one minute and shun them the next by the WT doctrine. As shown on another thread ( http://www.jehovahs-witness.com/forum/thread.asp?id=10269&site=3 ) the process is barbaric and telling people is a good way to help them from being indoctrinated into the WT.

hello to anyone who cares,.
i am in the fowlest of moods.
last week i started cosmetology school ( i love it so much ), anyhow who did i see there but another sister from my kingdom hall.
Jurs;
Explain to every one about the JW shunning it makes them look ridicules, and it is. I decided to tell anyone, when the subject comes up, about this cult practice. One women (friend) I told the other day had a knock at her door, it was the local PO and the CO, she told them "you better get the fuck out of here". I spit my beer out laughing at that one. It can become fun to expose this archaic practice.

my wife is becoming a witness and i've found very little that i can do to stop her!
i've tried to show her that the wt does not quote correctly, i've talked to her about past beliefs and i've tried to reason with her about the bible.
but she won't listen!.
Indireneed;
Welcome , you certainly face a challenge that could have long lasting effects. One angle to refute WT teachings may be to find out which publication she is studying with her personal study conductor. Obtain a copy for yourself and be inquisitive as to what chapter she is currently looking into and kindly disprove any thing you can. It will be a lot of work and take a lot of patience on your part but if she's worth having around it just might work. A thesis could be overbearing and considered a direct satanic attack, yes they do use that, then the stone wall goes up. Again, most here have very good ideas, please stay around and keep us posted.

very good news!
oh ... sitting there ... waiting for the interminable end of the dreary and elongated rambling of someone with no public speaking skills at all ... please end ... anything to break this monotony is welcome ... even singing about 'christian youths' would be more welcome ... music pllllllease ... ahah 'now brothers, we will move into the service meeting with song number 47' ... and out blares ... guns'n'roses 'black leather' .... what cd would you like to sneak in there huh ?
How about Prince with "Shakin that Ass"
the above phrase has been bandied about in the past and present, often as a form of insult when the poster disagrees with something another poster has said.. but what exactly do they mean?.
how do you think like a jw?
is there a certain code of synapses that distinguish a jw from a non-jw?.
Prisca;
It's a weird phenomena, one must be or have been a dub to recognize the thought pattern and identify it. If one was never a dub then a strange "way about them" is what I've been told. Others will see or hear odd emanations from a dub or group of dubs. It's sort of like the gb's claim "they just know" well you just know when you here dub speak. Would you agree?
