At the conventions, there always seem to be parents gushing about how their kids are 'in the Truth', pioneering, etc. I'm wondering how many JW kids just flat-out reject all the JW B/S right from the start. Surely there are some kids who just say 'No way!' when their parents try to pressure them into going out in service, to the (boring) meetings, etc. I knew a JW in the 80s who CONSTANTLY spanked & reprimanded this 4 yr old son at meetings & book-study. Years later I found out that the boy had grown long hair & (surprize!) refused to attend the meetings. Of course, nobody at the hall 'remembered' the way his Dad mistreated him as a child. Hopefully there are many children who are able to resist their parents' JW brainwashing attempts.

'Paradise Earth' makes absolutely no sense!
by navytownroger inthe jw idea of 'paradise earth' seems to be full of holes.
will babies of baptized jws also be in the new system?
if not, how could the child's parents consider it 'paradise' without their children?

The JW idea of 'Paradise Earth' seems to be full of holes. Will babies of baptized JWs also be in the New System? If not, how could the child's parents consider it 'paradise' without their children? If there are babies there, will they continue to mature into adults.....& to what age? Will young adult couples in their 20s be able to procreate in Paradise Earth? If not, won't they be denied the joy of having children of their own? Will babies who died in ages past be resurrected as babies or adults?? Given the GBs apparent disdain for children, I expect they'll soon institute a 'No Children' policy regading Paradise Earth. Somehow this so-called Paradise Earth idea makes no sense to me.

RECENT REVISIONS TO THE KH DRESS CODE?
by navytownroger ini was told by my former book-study conductor recently that a new 'dress code' had been handed down by the wts, because people had been 'getting too casual' with their styles of clothing.
one item he mentioed was a new rule for women prohibiting denim skirts.
and, when a woman wore a denim jacket, she was also told this was not appropriate for the kh.

Were the 'Annointed' ones the biggest dolts in the KH???
by navytownroger inin my former kh, there was one 'annointed' elder & man, was he a robotic idiot!!
he gave the memorial talk, to which 'everyone' was invted via a big tract-placing effort.
his talk was pure boredom, with lots of page-flipping through the bible.

His talk was pure boredom, with lots of page-flipping through the Bible. How was a 'worldly' invitee supposed to follow all this? There was NO effort to gear the talk toward the new people who were invited. (Hardly any new ones showed up anyway) In another talk, this same moron said JWs sholdn't be spending time with non-JW relatives. Another time he warned the congregation to be careful of 'bad influences' in the KH. Is it just me, or are the so-called annoited ones the biggest dumb-asses in the congregation??? If they are going to 'rule over' Paradise Earth, I want NO part of it!!!

I think Jesus was only talking to his immediate followers when he instructed them to 'keep doing this in remembrance of me'. I doubt he was even thinking that millions of people far in the future would be partaking. So I see no real sense in the Witnesses even celebrating the Memorial. I'd rather they volunteered in homeless shelters, hospitals & orphanages, etc. That would be a REAL 'memorial' to honor Jesus.

How many Kingdom Halls are being built/closed?
by navytownroger indoes anyone have any idea how many kingdom halls were built in the us during the last decade versus how many were closed?
what is the ratio in the area you live in?
with so many teenagers deserting the jws, i'd think that soon they'll be closing more khs than they are building, at least in the us and western europe.

I started with a small, simple tattoo just to get my feet wet. I liked it so much that I then added more to it & eventually had quite a few tats. So starting kinda small might be a good idea----just my opinion. Do what feels best to you!

"If you are Christian you are definately Trinitarian"
by Sirona inmy jw mother thinks that all christians (non jws who call themselves christian) are all trinitarian.. i tried to point out that there are certain groups who are not trinitarian, but she seemed to think that all christian groups in babylon the great believe in the trinity.. is it true that only fringe groups reject the trinity?.
sorry for my ignorance but i don't know much about mainstream christianity.. i would like to email her (my mum) a list of religions which reject the trinity but are also christian.
i also heard of groups who believe and preach about jehovah as gods name.. sirona.

I once worshipped at a United Pentecostal church, and they definitely reject the Trinity doctrine. They call themselves 'Oneness' Pentecostals.

Limiting comments by kids during WT Study
by navytownroger ini was told recently by a ministerial servant that the word had come down from above that from now on only two comments by children will be allowed during the wt study.
the reason: the meetings are geared to adults, not children.
has anyone else heard of this policy??

Won't this cause even more kids to eventually abandon the JW religion when they reach 18?

Will the WTBTS ever become mainstream like the WWCG?
by donny inback during the 80's and 90's, i occasionally heard statements lumping the society in with the likes of the worldwide church of god who had very similar teachings and even believed in 1975 as being a year that god would act (1975 in prophecy!
by herbert w. armstrong).
clearly the roots of the wwcg were from the same as the societys and both groups were viewed as cults.

I don't think the Witnesses have ANY intention of becoming more mainstream. They are too invested in being different & 'not part of the World'. They may change a bit around the edges for legal reasons or to update their failed predictions (1914) but I don't foresee any big effort to appeal to the masses. All the better for them to withdraw more deeply into an air-tight box divorced from reality. Hopefully more & more members will get fed up with it all & drop out.
