i ordered this book and read it a few years ago, and it resonated greatly with me.

i don't agree with all of it, but i haven't found many books that i agree with 100%, particularly those dealing with the bible.. i have recommended this book before on this forum for those questioning the logistics of the bible (genesis in particular) and i have just discovered that nate has offered the book now as a free pdf.

(incidentally, nate used to post here at jwd/jwn a few years ago, but that was before my time.).

Well, with regard to John 14:14, it is disadvantageous for the WTS to have omitted that "bracket."
Probably, that omission is not advantageous to the WTS (JW).

Therefore, their omission reason is probably their "negligence", IMO.
And, that "negligence" of theirs brought them disadvantage.

This is fundamentally the same as the text in the "KIT" (The Kingdom Interlinear Translation of the Greek Scriptures).
But, regrettable, in some places, the text reproduced by the "KIT" is different from the "original (WH)".
For instance, the "brackets." (Examples, John 14:14; Revelation 20:6)

This is because that word (Greek: "me") is omitted in some MSS (E.g., "Alexandrinus").

Well, people who do not know that the "KIT" is different from "original (WH)" explain as follows, for instance.

John 14:14 should also be mentioned. In the NWT this reads, "If YOU ask anything in my name, I will do it." The Greek text in the KIT, however, has "me" after "ask."It therefore should be translated, "If you ask me anything in my name, I will do it." It is true that some later Greek manuscripts omitted this word, but most of the earlier ones included it, and most modern editions of the Greek New Testament (including those used by the JWs in producing the NWT) include it. At the very least, the NWT ought to have mentioned this reading in a note.

if i'm not mistaken, werent the committee of brothers who translated this bible: nathan knorr, albert scheoder, george gangas, fredrick franz.

wasnt fredrick franz the only scholarly person (or somewhat scholarly) person who was 'somewhat qualified' to translate any type of biblical greek, hebrew, etc?.

I think that what Leolaia has said is completely correct.

For instance, I do not speak English at all.
But I write (translate) here in English.

I translate it by "machine translation" and use a "Japanese-English dictionary" and some of "my English skill."
(I try so that English grammar may be made correct as much as possible.)

But probably I cannot talk with Ms. Leolaia freely in English.
I have to learn English more.

I enjoy listening to your different choices some I like better than others. however I have discovered that I like hearing the japanese language sung.

Some languages I don't really like to hear sung like french for example. I don't know why.

In my personal opinion, I think that the Japanese language is suitable to an "international language."
Probably, in the Japanese language, there is no difficult pronunciation.

Well, I do not like the pronunciation of Chinese, French, etc.
About that point, possibly you and I may have a common feature.

By the way, of course, all the songs in the Japanese language are not necessarily good music.
Probably, I have introduced only "good music/songs" (excellent piece of music) here.
That is, I have not introduced "trashes" (poor stuffs) to you.

In the Japanese language, that is expressed as "Kawaii" (pretty, sweet, cute, loveable, adorable).

Well, although she gave birth to three kids, the first kid died by "sudden death (SIDS)."
Even if she seems like a "little chipmunk", she is a strong lady who probably knows deep grief.
