in the bible account of genesis, there we were told that adam and eve ate from the forbidden tree of knowledge of good and bad and thus, like god, they started to know good and bad.
these few words and actions apparently changed the course of humanity.
even if we assume that this account is just a fable and did not actually happen, a number of questions and issues come up namely;.
Interesting questions, but one problem. You are assuming that humans are the only creatures with "morals" or the ability to choose our behavior.
There is ample evidence of animals that live in groups, where the healthy animals feed the old or sick ones (wolves come to mind, I think chimps do this too). That's a primitive form of morality, really.

i remember at bethel a few of the brothers in service department used to always tell brothers that it would be beneficial to marry in their own race if they wanted to be used in the circuit work.
the premise was that the society is not biased but rather the world is and to avoid conflict, they only prefer to use couples of the same race.

LOL! That's the perfect phrase. A friend of mine in the hall was one of these, he was ultra dorky and would always take trips to Bethel. Not sure if he ever married, I bailed out while we were about 19-20 and he was single then.

just in case youre wondering, a mnemonic is a method by which it becomes easy to remember something, especially if it involves a table or sequence.
most uk mnemonics have a vulgar or sexual connotation, so their use is somewhat frowned upon in jw circles.. when number 2 son was studying geology, it was essential that he remembered the hardness order of various minerals.

Well, I can't speak for Godlike (although I'm pretty sure he's been out a while too) but I'm only a newbie to the board here. I too was a walkaway 11 years ago, at 19. Just got sick of it all.

Their number is 7% that believe in god in the traditional sense. It also follows what I was saying above that the more "hard" a science (ie the more tied to the natural world ) the less likely they are to believe in god. That's an interesting correlation, the more a person knows about the world around us and how it works the less likely he is to believe in god.

It is my understanding that about 49% of scientists believe in a supreme Creator personage.
Actually the number is more like 4% of "hard" sciences, like physics/paleontology/astromony. It's when "sciences" like psychology and philosophy are included the number goes up. But among hard scientists the number that believe in god or something similar is very low.
BTW I haven't been on here for a while. I'm over on Tishie's (now Randy's) board generally but it's been slow at work and I stumbled across this link the other day and though I'd pop in. :)

I am 29, inactive/out for 10 years but not df's or da'd (that I know of- I didn't leave a forwarding address).
It is a great feeling of freedom when you take your life back, or rather realize that it actually is your life.
My hobbies include auto racing, computers (programming, playing games on, just about anything with them), camping and fly fishing.
