Last time I voted it was for Nixon too. Changed my mind at the last minute. I was going to vote for McGovern. Ah, well never been into the whole political thing. Think they are all full of BS.

The dreaded assembly experiences ....
by eyeslice insitting through the items with experiences at the one day special assembly day last weekend reminded me just how dreadful having to handle experiences at the assemblies were.
when i was an elder, i used to dread getting assembly assignments that included experiences; they were always so fake.. .
nothing ever happened in our circuit that was ever noteworthy or outstanding, and you usually ended up re-hashing the same old stuff from years ago.. .

I usually escaped to the ladies' room for those excruciating tales. I knew if I stayed to listen they would either make want to run to the bathroom to barf anyway so I saved myself the trouble.
This is a little off track, but when I went on a tour of Bethel, Brooklyn Headquarters and Patterson I discovered something quite weird. I never knew that the people depicted in all the literature (I mean those that they used as the artwork for happy, happy people in paradise) had to be going to Bethel and meeting all the strict requirements. After I found that out, the rest of the trip I kept saying to everyone, "Go to Bethel and become a STAR!!!!!" Think I ruined the tour for all the faithful dubs as I was already so cynical by this time. Tee, hee I secretly loved doing that. -

they both needed to go potty at the same time.
so i tried to pick both of them up.

Mine was the time I had my twin grandsons with me and I was sitting in the overflow room. They both needed to go potty at the same time. So I tried to pick both of them up. They were three years old at the time.
Well, I was sitting next to the wall on the inside of the row. I was struggling to carry both of them and by the time I got to the end of the row...I lost my balance and, egad!!!!! I fell face first into the crotch of an 18 year old brother.
At least my grandbabies were okay, but I'm sure he and I will never forget that moment as long as we live. -

Did you ever go in field service after realizing it was not the truth?
by Samuel Thorsen ini did not, but i did fs when i had seriuos doubts and i thougt some householders had pretty good arguments some times, but i could not admit it of course.. and i did fs for a long time after i realized the magazines was very very poor.
i still remember my very last hour from door to door.
geee that was torture, i hatet myself and hoped no one was at home.. do you remember your last fs hour?

Yes, once I heard during my study I had to do this I literally freaked out!!!! So from day one I new that I was just making everything up at the door. -

Daryl Tucker commits suicide.
by dogon ini do not know if anyone knew daryl tucker of vanderbuilt, congergation in michigan.
i just got word that his wife of 28 years left him and he shot himself.
even though he was a witness he was one of the good ones.

whatever you would say, the note takers were busy as a bee writing down every word.
especially if you went out of town to give a talk, certain ones (only sisters) would take their note taking very very seriously.. another thing that used to get to me was when you'd see the same people every assembly on the platform giving a talk or being in a part.

Oh and how about the experiences they gave at conventions. How we were protected by angels out in the field service. What a crock of vulture do do. I remember when four witnesses were out in service in a bad part of Mexico and they disappeared, only to be found later dead and tortured. So where were the angels then, huh?
And shake your kids to wake up during the bone-numbing night time meetings. Heaven forbid they fall asleep like the little children they are. I really bugged the sister studying with me and my husband. My daughter was only 3 and there was no way that little girl could ever stay up past 8:00. She is still the same way today, ha.
Well I made all her clothes. So I started making matching pillows, and blankets so she would be comfortable and warm in the Kingdumb Hall when she fell asleep. You would have thought I had committed the unforgivable sin...grieving the Holy Spirit...whatever the mysterious thing was anyway. I really got a good counseling for that. What a bad, bad Mommy I was.
I think I just liked to rattle their cages to show them I was not going to turn into some Watchtower robot.
Oh, and another thing that always irritated me. Why in the name of all that is holy do we think we have to slap on an American suit on people that attend meetings in the jungles of Africa or put them on Indian or South American or Asian people. Where in the Bible does it say we must wear a uniform to be acceptable to God...Grrrrrrr don't get me started. I have a list that must go on for pages. All the crap is starting to bubble up to the top of the septic tank!
