What's in a number?
by Slappy injust came across this as i was reading through some thoughts; perhaps it's been shared here, i do not know.
to be truly honest, i developed a headache trying to follow all of it, but perhaps there are those that are more knowledgeable of such things that will have an easier time of understanding it than i. again, i'm not trying to make a point or start an argument; i just found it interesting and thought to share it.
i know that if one looks hard enough at something, he/she can make things appear that aren't really there, but still, something on this scale even makes that explanation hard to justify.

Paul and Jesus
by Slappy inmaybe it's just me, but lately it seems like there is a trend (well, moreso than usual in any case) of saying that paul is somehow of a different mind than jesus and that the teachings of the two contradict each other.
while i can see where having a jw background can easily bring this type of thinking around, most especially since they extol the teachings of paul and completely ignore christ, most of you are no longer under the power of the watchtower...er, you aren't are you?
and as such, you should be free of most, if not all, of the brainwashing to occurrs.

Most damning portion?
by Slappy ini've tried posting this twice b4, but apparently firefox wasn't working all that well, so i'll see if it actually works with ie.. ****************************************************************************************************************************************.
is luke 23:39-43 the single most damning portion in the bible for the jw, mormon, and other similar 'religions' that profess to believe in the god of the bible?
when did the thief do good works in order to attain his salvation?

Any thoughts on the 'Brethren'?
by Slappy inas my bio mentions, i grew up in a non-denominational setting and am very thankful for that.
however, there are still a few things that are held within this setting to be truth (will of god, biblical, or whatever else you care to call it) that i find very disconcerting.
i've tried, on various occassions, to discuss this with others within the 'brethren' but they are leery of such topics and tend to view me as cynical and jaded and a danger to the proper order of things .

when did he have the time to follow a 'religious' body and adhere to its rules in order that he may attain salvation?
