Im ready to leave

i just found this website and im so glad because for the first time in a long time i dont feel alone...i am a born in and in the last two years have been struggling because i thought that i was the problem and i was the reason for not feeling any love from and for the other pubs .i want to leave the org but have no idea how to tell my mother(who is a faithful jw).

Don't do anything just yet. You have plenty of time. For now, just read many posts on here and give yourself time to think.

Yes, I agree with posters that education is the most important thing. Don't do anything to jeopardize yours. If mom will pay for your college, then right now, you don't have to tell anyone anything.

I certainly do advise that if you are not baptized, don't take this step. Many people are not shunned if they are never baptized.

Please remember....you have plenty of time. Don't rush into anything. There are always repercussions to decisions.We wish you the best.

Update rant almost a year out!

for those who know my story my hubby and i are almost a year out of the organization!

my due date is right around the corner and still no word from my hubby's family.

they are hardcore.

Congratulations on your upcoming addition to the family!

Your baby will be fortunate to have a mother and a father who care about him/her, and not a future sitting in a KHall being told that they should not get a higher education, and that their goal should be to work at Bethel or sit behind one of the new carts while people walk past them.

Please concentrate on having a happy family life in your home. So sorry about your husband's family. It's what the JWs do...and have the nerve to call it love.

Grieving for the Living

i originally wrote this blog a few years ago, but yesterday a friend that is struggling to decide whether or not she will tell her family that she no longer accepts the jehovahs witness religious doctrine reminded me of it so i am re-sharing (with updates).. its not always completely freeing to come out of the closet (as an atheist in my case) and i wanted her to understand that.. i had a very strange realization recently: i dont know what its like to be someones adult child.

my parents didnt get the privilege of seeing me come of age.

i didnt get walked down the aisle when i got married.

I read your beautifully written blog, and I cry for you. I am a mother, and know that deep down your mother must be proud of you, even though she is under the immense influence of the borg.

The disturbing thing is that when your parents become older and no longer able to care for themselves, the elders will most surely view their care as your responsibility. I remember reading a very sad post from a person who had this happen to her, and by the time she became an "acceptable associate" to care for her mother, her mother was a virtual stranger.

I would say that you should never give up hope. At one time I was just as brainwashed as your mom, in the organization over thirty years, and here I am now.

In the meantime, you are a credit to your family, even though they do not recognize it.

The Religion Of Rejection - And Now That Includes Me

due to some recent developments i find myself in a new place, and at this point i've lost all of my family and fri....oh that's right, i never really had any friends in the organization anyway.

just people that wanted something from me and a few people that i would invite to do things that occasionally said yes.

the recent rejections of me got me thinking, so let's take a rejection inventory.. i had to reject all of the holidays when my parents started studying.. i had to reject any worldly friends that i already had.. even family became rejected, and the new religion had some place in that.. i was rejected in school and bullied all of the time, not just because we were poor and i made good grades, but for jw reasons too.

As time goes by, you will become happier and less concerned with JWs and their rejection. Focus on doing fun things with your wife and brother and his family. Do not waste one more minute on the past that you can do nothing about-start making goals for an interesting future.

well another big bad elder here just wanting to say sorry.. i'm sorry that so many were treated like crap, and shown that god's love is not to be found around jehovah's witnesses.

i'm sorry that inadvertently i've likely taught many to judge and as such see that racism permeates every corner of the jw world, else why else would someone be of the world, or even inactive.

i'm sorry i sat in on a jc, and voted to df.

Welcome. My husband and I were "in" for over thirty years. He was an elder for twenty. We are out together.

How wonderful that you and your wife are on the same page. I know that you will patiently help your daughter, and hope that all will be well. It may be a long journey, but the end result, thinking for yourself, is so worth it.

Just wanted to add my welcome. Be patient with the wife. At one time you felt the same way. Just be so wonderful to her that she couldn't possibly do without you!

I was in for over thirty years and never thought I'd be out but obviously give the WTS enough time and they'll possibly come out with new light so ridiculous you just can't stand it or treat someone in a horrible manner.

JW's came to my door 6 weeks ago. I told them I was inactive.......

6 weeks ago some jws came to my door.

i've been inactive for 8 years.

after they gave their presentation i told them i was inactive.

Welcome to the forum.

My husband and I left the JWs ten years ago. No one has been by to ask us to return...not that we would, however. Someone passed along this wonderful thought, "Better to have questions that can't be answered than answers that can't be questioned. Do you really want to return to an organization that "does all the research for you?"

Just found out my older brother has passed away

i have just found out that my brother (who was one of a bunch that shared this login) has died.. he and his wife were living in another country where they once pioneered.

i didn't see him that often.. such an empty feeling.....

Getting it out of my system, a VERY long introduction/outpouring..

after a few months of lurking on this site, i've decided to take the plunge...i don't really care so much about introducing myself, but somehow there is some relief in the thought of getting my little story out there, just getting it out of my system.

i am the oldest of 5 kids.

Welcome. I read all of your story, and do not feel that you are looking for pity, but had things to get off your chest, and feel the uncertainty of your future.

If there is one good thing I learned after I left the JWs it is this: Better to have questions that I can't answer than answers that I can't question.

You have something wonderful going for you...you are young. Please make some goals for yourself, and one I hope you will make is to get further education. It is so refreshing and freeing to learn. It helps to learn about the world around you, and formulate some opinions based on knowledge. You get to know yourself better.

I was in the organization for more than thirty years. When I left I was floundering, and realized i didn't know myself. All I could do was parrot the WT answers, as they did all the research for us. i went to college and graduated at 61 years of age.

I wish the best for you, and hope that you can gain self confidence and shape your own future. It is wonderful to be able to think for yourself.

What are you up to this summer?

i really enjoy hearing about other people's lives.

feeling a little lonely this evening so please tell me if you have plans for the summer months.

i may go to some outdoor theatre with my daughter who's home from uni; with a picnic and a bottle of wine.

My husband and I just got back from Carlsbad Caverns in New Mexico. This is a huge cave system with many different formations of stalagmites and stalactites. In the evening we watched as thousands of bats emerged from the cavern entrance. The desert was stunning as we drove along. We were able to drive there in one day from Houston, and it was so enjoyable to view the different topography of the areas we went through.

It was wonderful. It was wonderful to go somewhere without having to endure a convention first, and then get only a short time because all the money was spent on an approved motel and putting money in the contribution box,

I hope everyone can enjoy some time with nature this summer.
