Thanks Blondie. I am glad, just some sad thoughts creep in there sometimes.

yes, i am enjoying realizing the truth about the truth.. but there is another side to it.
the world as we know it didn't seem to me to be the way that god intended it to be.
i know i was brainwashed, but it felt good believing that all the bad things would be changed.

I prefer reality as well. But I believed the paradise earth WAS reality.
dear mouthy and all here who love their fellow man,.
mouthy, your sincere posts and steadfast belief have been a great encouragement to me after leaving the witnesses.. to all here who love their fellow man: your posts have also been a well of water in a dry land to me.. my thanks to all here and to those who have worked hard to set us free.. .
believing.
It's true, Mouthy has said some great things that have helped me too.
Welcome to the board.

Yes, I am enjoying realizing the truth about the truth.
But there is another side to it. I always did look forward to the paradise earth. The world as we know it didn't seem to me to be the way that God intended it to be. I know I was brainwashed, but it felt good believing that all the bad things would be changed. Those diseases and accidents that killed people, or if not, the old age with people losing their dignity wearing diapers and slowly forgetting everything. People that are paralyzed or deaf or blind. The people that died in the Holocaust. All resurrected, all healthy, all living forever.
I enjoyed talking about the New System with other JW's. I go camping and backpacking occasionally, and our group used to talk for hours about what we will do in the New System. It seemed true, that God had a purpose for us to live forever and learn and grow. Petting the lions was just a little part of it. I didn't worry about the details, because I believed that Jehovah God would work that out of course.
You know, that was probably the only Kingdom song that really made me emotional. "If you Keep your Eyes on the Prize." Remember that one? "When eyes of blind ones see again, when ears of deaf ones hear again."
And now what? What do we have to look forward to? Those of us that spent our youth pioneering, making sacrifices for the Kingdom, waiting and waiting for Armageddon so we could have our huge family and live forever, no more death.
And now I know that one day I will be in a nursing home somewhere, yes in diapers, yes forgetting who everyone is, yes losing my mind. Or if I am fortunate, I will die in my sleep before that. But it's not likely.
That's why even though I saw so many inconsistencies over the years, I didn't accept it. I wanted to believe it. I wanted it to be true.
Now what? Most of the time I enjoy life, but sometimes its just sad to think there is no paradise on earth around the corner.
What about you? Similar thoughts?

i have the samsung instinct.
it looks like an iphone.
i keep it away from others' eyes by holding it inside the book we are studying.
I have been doing that lately. I have the Samsung Instinct. It looks like an Iphone. I keep it away from others' eyes by holding it inside the book we are studying. The only person that has seen me with it is the microphone handler. And the print on my screen is too small for others to read.
I get bored at the meetings, I always have. I have ADD too. So I read this site, and CNN for that matter, and then I throw in a comment or two to show the friends I am paying attention.
What about you? Have you ever checked this site out while at a meeting or assembly?

it's weird putting two and two together after 40 years of have the two things separate.. my uncle was killed in a car accident in august of 1969. i was a child, but i remember my mother being very sad and crying and staying in her room.. it was in october of 1969 that the witnesses first visited my mom.
my mom was in the front yard watching us kids when jw's came door-to-door.
that sister and my mom are still friends to this day.. anyway, my mom started studying.
Scarred for Life, what a story!
It's amazing how many of us were in the truth because our parents or grandparents were in a tough situation or were isolated from others. The experiences that are in the publications make it seem as if all those coming in were searching for the truth, and Jehovah sent the Witnesses to their door.

tell them what you thought of them when you found out what a fraud they are?.
I don't think they read angry mail directed to them by Witnesses or ex-Witnesses. When I was in Bethel, the GB had secretaries. I would imagine any "negative" mail would never get to them.

Asilentone, I remember the 1971 earthquake in Los Angeles. I remember all of us kids running out of the house. Seemed it lasted awhile. I don't remember, but I bet my mom strengthened her faith in Armageddon on that.

hi guys!
i love reading everybody's posts on here.
it's neat to see where the journey has taken them.
I am still an active Witness, I am undercover to help friends and family get out. Limited success so far, but trying.
the past three weeks having been so stressful and very sad.
my ex husband died after being in hospital for just over a week in intensive care.. i was just 18 and he was 21 when we first met and after a whirlwind romance we married 6 months later and have two sons together who are now adults.
although our marriage ended after 25 years and i remarried 7 years ago, he was my first love and i knew him for most of my life.
I am so sorry for how you are being treated. Some of my family is doing that to me. That's why I want to do something to make the WT fall apart.
