ok - but you do recognize SOME might be shunned right?
see, that can kinda provide a slippery slope....

post - df experience
by Solace1998 init was a shock to many when i was df'ed -- .
but i found afterwards, many did not want to obey the arrangement... one sister cornered me at a local supermarket, and made sure everything was okay with me, and if i ever needed someone to talk to, that she and her hubby were available... .
there is more to this, but another sister i worked with was quite ardent about talking to me about much more than just work .

Is There ANYTHING More Monotonous Than Living As A JW?
by minimus ini look back and think of how mindless, boring and dumb it all was.
.
i think of having to sit at mind numbing meetings, bored to tears, making believe i was enjoying the fine spiritual banquet.. i think of how we used to drive around in "service" looking for nothing to do----just so that we could put our time in---hoping that no one was home.. everyone had to conform to direction and whims of elders or the society.. i am soooooooooo glad i'm out!.

even though i disagree with that, i will give you a "perhaps" (considering that nutso video from that italian "brother")

it is MOST certainly not "banned"
that is what i was talking about. -

i didnt REALIZE they werent good friends until after... jeez, ive never seem so much debate over semantics!!!
yeah there were a TON of not at homes, and busy people -- but the alternative witnessing we did helped us reach more people.
Look, those are seriously my experiences. Must I preface everything with some kind of disclaimer that shows im not a witness, dont want to be, and that witnesses ruined something very special in my life for me? If i wanted to out the witnesses, i would - i have alot of disdain there. But im not going to let that blind the fact of the positive things i experienced whilst in the borg.
When you pioneer and serve in other countries, and do relief work, you tend to have alot more experiences than a 10 hour a month publisher. -

"When it comes to being a witless, you do not get what you put into it. That is the official party line, intended to get people to put more in. "
i love it how people like the oh so subtle word changes, classy.
yeah it is a party line, but its definetly true. Commenting at the meetings, having parts, doing different things, they definetly make the meetings more interesting. Ive been on both sides of that one.
"And you get one more publisher, pushing the Washtowel Slaveholdery closer to the dreaded 7 million mark ."
dreaded? How does this threaten you? They can do whatever they want, recruit whoever they want -- i dont care anymore.
"Not only have the gatherings been taken away,"
they havent been. I still see witnesses at all the old hang out spots, the difference is, more and more lately, i dont give a damn. About 3 or so years ago, there were so many gatherings you could fill the week with em if you wanted...
"Education is banned beyond high school, as is the Internet "
both untrue -

dude,
those are my experiences - please dont mock me. Service, well, maybe i was unsure if i should be out there sometimes - but yeah it was interesting in that i got to speak to ALOT of different people, and maybe raise some interest in reading the bible.
yeah, as i already cleared up, they WERE good friends, UNTIL they stopped talking to me. -

What JW teaching did you find hardest to defend??
by karter infor me it was that god is killing billions of people just to prove a point.

"Birthdays - The two scriptural references were shakey at best. In the OT scripture, it was prophecied that the guy would be killed anyway and in the NT scripture the king can do whatever he wanted, he just happened to order a killing on his birthday. Duh!"
so the massive evidence of total pagan origin means nothing? hmmmm...
"Note to all current witnesses\faders: if it is "to deep" to understand, it's most likely a load of crap that your subconcious mind is trying to reject."
indeed - just like science, no?
" The scriptures used to justify this doctrine contrast Christianity with idol worship. That comparison is highly offensive to Christians I know. How can I convince someone to visit the hall after insulting them?!"
too bad if it offends them - most of them ARE idol worshippers -- however, yes, it is kind of insulting and awkward to invite them to the hall after that. -

Some questions about WT sources
by witnessgirl insomething has been bugging me for years and years, and always bugged me when i was an active witness.
i've never mentioned it before and i've never seen it discussed.
like with a lot of other matters, i just assumed that this meant that i was missing something that everyone else understood.

Congregation Get-Togethers: In or Out?
by TreadClimberMaster ini was reading redpill2006's post and i noticed that some mentioned that get-togethers or parties have been largely discouraged.
i stopped attending meetings in 2003/2004 and i remember my congregation still had get-togethers, although they were few and far between.
they were not completely discouraged though, has this changed?
