When one receives payment for his or her services to an organization, it is reasonable to expect that he or she marry from with in that organization, or that the spouse become a member of the organization. Otherwise, it is nobody's business. I would want the wife of the pastor of the church I attend to have similar beliefs.

Marrying Outside the Organization
by cameo-d inthe leader of the oshkosh salvation army is packing up and preparing to leave the community he served.. captain johnny harsh is suspended and will most likely be terminated from his position.
it's because he's planning to marry someone outside the organization.. back in june, his wife died unexpectedly.
now he's engaged to a woman who isn't affiliated with the salvation army, and that is against salvation army rules.. by talking to the media, captain harsh knows he could lose his current suspension pay but he's taking a stand, saying the rules need changing.. "the archaic rules of the salvation army are man-made, not god-made.

JW runs when he hears the word "Jesus"
by Honesty inthis morning i was in the office of a company that i do business with.
3 women were in the office and they all asked me how i was doing since i had major surgery last month.. i told them that i was recovering but it was kind of disappointing when i woke up in the recovery room instead of at the pearly gates.. one of the women said, "god must have more for you to do here.".
at which i replied, "yes, there are so many lost people who don't know jesus.".

Ask a witness who is their favorite bible character is and they will say Moses or David or Paul. Ask a born again or just a christian and they will say Jesus. Try it I have I don't think this is an accurate question. Many Christians will answer some other character than Jesus, simply because they assume you are asking "Who besides Jesus is your favorite character?" Jesus is more than a Bible character to them. The Bible clearly states that Jesus is the name above all names. As sacolton said, kurios is translated in the NWT either lord, or Jehovah, depending on the whim of the translators. They were not consistent with this translation.

Every JW should be asked...
by Honesty inthe following 2 questions when they arrive at your door with the watchtower society's 'good news' and their jesus (the prehuman angel michael, the human jesus and a resurrected spirit creature [6/15/06 watchtower page 30]) who is 3 persons in one:.
the first question is, if you truly abstain from blood, how can you belong to a religion that allows parts of blood?.
the second question is, would you donate blood so that the fractions allowed by the watchtower society could save the life of one of your jehovah's witness brothers or sisters?.

A question I have on the blood issue is when a person receives fractions, what happens to the rest of the blood? Wouldn't that be just as disrepectful to the blood?

Defence of watchtower society Links
by reniaa ini thought long and hard before making this thread, that many will not agree with it but i think there needs to be balance and people to realise there are alternate viewpoints out there on many of these subjects, the ones that are most spoke about on this forum.
i was recently sent a full message containing mary's book and these links give the rebuttal to many of her points.
those that are still open-minded enough feel free to look over them even if in the end you still don't agree at least you have heard both the defence as well as the attack as they are on the internet.

Guest with Questions, it seems to me that you have a very good grasp of what the Bible teaches in these areas.

I had never noticed this before. The 144,000 follow the Lamb where ever he goes. Does this mean that they follow him to the paradaise earth where he will rule and reign? If so, what happens to their heavenly hope?

Reniaa, you have several misconceptions about Christian religions. Many have been very ably refuted. However, I want you to know that the main thing for me is whether or not a particular group (religion) is willing to allow the Bible to be their authority, or if the leaders are going to be the authority. Admittedly, many "Christian" groups claim to use the Bible as their authority, but in practice, the religion decides what the church will practice and believe. I believe we ought always to compare what our church believes and practices with the Bible, and when we see a difference, we should change the church's beliefs and practice, not change and twist what the Bible says to support those beliefs and practices. In my particular church, there is no head of the denomination who tells the rest what to do or believe, other than to follow what the scriptures say. We also recognize that there are many other groups that believe somewhat differently, but yet they are still followers of Christ, and as such, "Christians". As far as the idea of Hitler being a christian, he might have claimed that, but it is very obvious that he did not know what Christianity really is. Also, there were many true Christians who stood up to him, and went to prison or were killed for doing so. Have you not heard of Corrie Ten Boom?

Is the Bible the word of God?
by Number1Anarchist inthis is a question that has racked my brain.
how do we know it is from god?
we have heard this since we were born that the bible was the word of god!

IMO, there is no other book that has stood the tests that the Bible has stood over the years. I believe it is God's Word, and that it can be trusted to tell us all that we need to know about God.

If you were DFd: How did you feel at first? (for my book project)
by Awakened at Gilead ini am starting to write a book about survival/recovery for exjws or questioning jws... i hope to have an impact on the jw community.. .
in my first chapter, i discuss the negative effects of dfing and shunning.
the wts presents dfing in a positive light and indicates that jws should feel no compassion for those that have turned their back on jehovah.

So does each person have to buy the literature they distribute? Or does the congregation buy it and give it out for them to distribute?

jesus denies being God! scriptural discussion.
by reniaa ini thought after recently reading the bible i would put up for disussion some recent scriptures up which for me show that jesus never viewed himself as god and anyone listening would also see it this way too.. first mark 10 :17-20.
17as jesus started on his way, a man ran up to him and fell on his knees before him.
"good teacher," he asked, "what must i do to inherit eternal life?

Wait just a minute, to be a person, one has to be human? according to the dictionary, one definition of a person is the following. Person - Philosophy. a self-conscious or rational being. Each member of the Godhead fits this. One doesn't have to be human to be a person. Jesus is both human and God.
