That was some first post.

Very interesting how it turned out for you and your girlfriend after all that time away.

Hope to hear more from you in the future.

And my opinion is right now that both Apostates and college are creating problems for the Org.

If it wasn't causing problems for them,we wouldn't be hearing about it in the magazines and such.

Not sure which one is the biggest thorn in their side right now, but both are having an impact.

I will say this though. College was able to cause one of my in-laws to finally open her eyes and start to question the Org.

Here is a video of a tornado that hit in N.C. How can this guy stay so calm?

ok i try and stay calm in the event of an emergency but there is just no way i can be as calm as the guy in this video when you see the tornado go right beside him.

62 tornadoes hit N.C. yesterday leaving 22 dead,lots of injuries and major damage. Has anyone heard from Oompa and other posters near hard hit areas?

i'm in n.c. but in our area we were spared the most severe storms but still had some minor damage.. i'm just curious if anyone has heard from any of the other n.c. posters and if they're alright.. if any of you have phone numbers or any other means to contact them let us know how they are doing.. also if any n.c. posters are reading this just weigh in and say hi to let us know you're alright..

Oompa glad to hear you were not in the path of the worst of it then.

Robert7 you were one of the others I was thinking about. Good to hear you're alright as well.

I'm still getting pm's on Facebook from others that don't post on here and it seems that most of them made it through without too much damage or hardships.

Oh and by the way Robert7, I don't know if you still have the PM's from a long while back where we talked and you asked what part of NC I was in, but my offer still stands for both you and Oompa and any others you want to bring. It's coming up on summer and we will be going to the lake boating,camping and grilling out etc.. If you get some vacation time and want to head over this way you have an open invitation. We have a blast and usually have anywhere from 10-20 peeps show up.

If you don't remember what part I'm in, just send me a PM. Don't want to post the exact details here in case any of the snitches from my last congregation may be lurking trying to figure me out. I always leave enough plausible deniability to turn their "theocratic warfare" right back at them.

Happy Memorial Everyone...........ummm...... hooray?

umm...... many jws i know always state how the memorial observance is the only thing that we "celebrate", but for the life of me, i can't remember our family doing any kind of celebrating other than going to the kingdom hall and passing a plate of crackers and some carlo rossi wine around.

but maybe that was just my family.. has anyone else back in the day remember having any actual festivities?.

To be truthful...I'd have to say my family was good about trying to celebrate the Memorial (in the sense of trying to make the day extra special for us as kids back then)

My mom would take us out with many from the congregation after it was over at the hall and we would usually go as a group to either like a pizza hut or some other restaurant.

And she would always make sure we got new clothes for the occasion at this time of year.

I will always give my mom high regard for trying as best she could to make us feel special as well as this be a special day.

I got one.

Last year I received two.

The year before that if memory serves me correctly I got three.

I see a pattern forming.

If this keeps up, next year I shouldn't receive any since it appears to be going down by one each year.

All those things you mentioned sound good Syl but after all this talk about food it's got me thinking about some good ole

chicken and dumplings, giblet gravy, and coleslaw.

I should know better by now than to get on these food threads this late at night. I wasn't even hungry and now I'm going to have to go raid the refrigerator.

Oh ya and for all the other southerners on here I know I should of typed chick'n dumplins,giblet gravie and cold slaw.

But was being considerate of our yankee friends on here.

ok, here is the question.. if a dfd person shows to a kh of congregation x and starts attending the meetings and talks to the elders and tells them he has been attending the meetings for a year in congregation y. how will the elders in cong y verify that?

would they need a letter, a phone call?

will they check with the branch?

cyberjesus....I can tell you from past experience that if you're DF, the current congregation will have to get in contact with the former congregation that did the Disfellowshipping and it will have to go through them to reinstate the person. A letter will be sent to them giving their recommendation but it would be up to the congregation that DF'd you to allow the reinstatement.

Important security tip for those on here that use FaceBook.

a friend on fb shared this security tip with me and after realizing how crucial it could be with all the "man-in-the-middle" and data mining going on with fb i decided to share it with all of you in case you were like me and wasn't aware of it.. and after seeing what all it does i'm also curious if you're like me and wonder why facebook doesn't make it the default setting instead of the other way around.. anyhow if you go to account/account settings/account security, you should see a box that says beside it, browse facebook on a secure connection.. make sure to put a check mark in that box and then click save.. to check to make sure it is set properly, your address bar should now show https:facebook.com (notice it added the "s" for secure after http).. when you do banking online or other data sensitive issues online you are probably used to seeing the https on them and that is why.. if you are unsure of why you would want this setting on fb, i'd highly recommend to search on google for https and read the wiki article that comes up.

it list all the benefits of using this security option when/where it's available.. your friends on fb list will be much happier knowing that things they send you or that you post in pm's are more secure as well.. i was surprised at how many friends/family on my list wasn't aware of this option either.. hope that helps with any fears and/or concerns you may have with facebook security.. stonewall.

Yes feel free to copy and paste the above security information I posted. Also anyone else that would like to make their friends on FB aware of it is welcome to do so as well.

To me knowledge is power and the more people that can make the internet a safer place to be for the masses the better it is for all of us.

As I stated earlier, I don't understand why this isn't a default setting on FaceBook.

The only thing that I can see as to why they wouldn't put it as default is that some of the older(ancient) browsers are not able to handle the encryption as well as the site certificates. And FaceBook is all about numbers and getting advertising dollars so they don't want to lose any members that maybe stuck with outdated technology and/or programs.

The browswer part is easily fixed with a free download of the latest version of Mozilla,Google Chrome or IE.

But I do understand that there are so many people on FaceBook that in a lot of these other countries especially, that many of them are using older computers not capable of handling the latest browsers and the higher levels of encryption etc...
