Had the magazines left at my house today and wanted to "SCREAM" after reading this article in the May 1,2011 WT

the article that caught my eye as i was thumbing through it was on page 18 entitled "a peaceable people defend their good name".

this was all about the issues being addresssed in russia and how the j.w.

's were being oppressed/repressed.. but if you look in the box to the left under "a note to the citizens of russia", you will see that they quote the scripture in luke 12:2 "there is nothing carefully concealed that will not be revealed, and secret that will not become known.".

I wonder why they don't go ahead with the next verse in chapter 12 of Luke.

In verse 3 it states according to NWT "Wherefor what things you say in the darkness will be heard in the light, and what you whisper in private rooms will be preached from the housetops."

Is this not what we've beeen saying for years on this site and others like it.

About the society's secret Elders book and the secret letters to Elders from headquarters that the rank and file brothers and sisters in the congregations are not allowed access to.

Funny how the one scripture we harped on for so long, that the WTBTS is trying to use a play book from our strategy.

I wonder how many from headquarters are reading this and other threads on here right now.

They must keep up with our ever increasing light to their ways..

In other words they are trying to say that they're going to expose the hidden agenda that Russia has against them and make them a mockery to rest of the civilized world because Russia dared to defy them and stand up to them. (seriously read the article and see what you think)

So basically it's not ok for Russia to oppress them but when it's the WTBTS doing the oppressing to former members who no longer buy into their "message" then its totally acceptable. Sounds like two sets of scales to me. (or double standards)

There's even a box on page 19 that ask "Do you think they are Extremist Publications?" and it list various WT publications that Russia apparently thinks is/are.

And to top it all off....get ready for it....in box on page 21 it ends with this sentence all to itself. And I'm going to quote it word for word.

"There is no excuse for repression."

P.S. If anyone can post a scan of this article that I'm referring to, I'd be very appreciative. It is the public edition WT not study edition.

Oh there are great actors of even today as well.

Just think of people like Jack Nicholson,(The Shining,One flew over the cuckoo's nest,just to name a few of his) Morgan Freeman (Shawshank redemption was one of my all time movies)

Brad Pitt (A few of his: A river runs through it, Troy, Legends of the fall)

I know there's going to be some that are/maybe intimidated by Brad Pitt and will cast disparaging remarks about him but I give him credit were it is due. He is a very talented actor. In my opinion he is a lot like Robert Redford of days gone by.

I know there is a lot more out there but my mind is tired today and I'm sure others will be by to post some of their favorites as well.

Davinci notice the words I underlined in your words I quoted above. It seems to me that you may be laying it on a little too fast and too thick.

From Sunday to this morning is only two days a part. Your wife may take this as an affront to her personally by feeling it's all about you right now and not giving as much concern over her well-being.

From the amount of years you have stated you and your wife have been married (25 years), I assume you are close in the age bracket of my wife and I. (22 years for us) So I'd like to make a suggestion that worked for me.

Just tell your wife that you are having issues dealing with some things and you are not in the mindset to be at the meetings.

If she pushes for more of an answer than that just reaffirm your love for her and tell her that it is nothing that she has done, but you just need time to sort some things out. (And the beauty of all of this is it will all be true. I'm still sorting things out after years of being out when my J.W. world came tumbling down.)

Remember the ole saying that Rome wasn't built in a day. Try not to rush her too much or she may take it as you're trying to rub her nose in it.

Just my two cents worth. I wish you well on your journey out of the matrix known as the Watchtower world.

in just a few days reopened mind and me will be taking that big trek up to the north country.

we have hit very few road blocks in the last months getting ready for our move.

we will not be able to get high speed internet were we are moving to.

Is there any chance you may be able to work out a deal with one of your two neighbors(closest one) that have DSL where you're moving?

In other words ask them if you paid the difference could they maybe upgrade their service on dsl and allow you to connect with a wireless hub/router?

Of course this is all dependent on how close you are to them. Won't work if the distance is to great.

The reason I ask this is I'm aware of someone who had similar issues and basically told the phone company to go screw themselves after getting the run around and talked to their neighbor and had a great turnout doing just what I described.

But all of this would depend on distance of your house from theirs and how much bandwidth they are currently allocated and if they can even upgrade to a higher speed dsl.

But anyhow hope you can find some resolution to this and can eventually join us from your new location.

1984 WT cover -- Watchtower's Final Failed Prediction?

the infamous cover of that 1984 watchtower (27 years ago) was perhaps the last prediction / prophecy of the watchtower society.

will there be any more or have they finally learned their lesson?

some think they are like a race-track junkie and are addicted to predictions.

VM44 I stand corrected.

I stated she was the same and that would put her at 107 but my friend just said that she was the same and never said if she was still living.

So looking over the SS info it appears she died at 99 years of age. So I ran ahead by assuming she was still alive when I saw the 107 years of age.

My apologies on that part. I was just trying to take it all in by talking to him on the phone and reading what you had posted here.

So that was totally my fault. He(friend) thinks she has passed away so the info on her being 99 at date of death (DoD)is probably the accurate one.
