COC in public libraries

i haven't researched this but do library have copies of this book?

did you ever look for coc or any other book in a local library when you were a believer or when you began to have doubts?

how hard is it to find this book in a public library?.

I can say that when I first started having serious doubts and concerns over the WT Organization, I personally went to the local public library in hopes of finding CoC to read and was disheartened that they didn't have it avaiable. I even checked with the other public libraries in surrounding counties via their in-house electronic card catalogue and none of them had it. (you can have a book sent to your local library from one of the other counties if they have it available)

To this day I haven't read CoC but have read many excerpts from it and admire Ray for his courage in writing it.
Some may wonder why I still haven't purchased a copy or borrowed it to read, but at this point in my life I'm already mentally and physically out of the WT so don't really feel a need to.

But I do feel that years ago when I was first looking for it at the library, it would have been such a tremendous help for me at that time due to the passages I've read from it.

It is still on my to do list (to read) one day if I don't run out of time in this life. :)
I owe it to Ray Franz for giving me one of my first probing questions when I was younger about why would anyone ever leave or be DF from the GB.

Why did/does there appear to be an unusually high number of "Germanic" names in the Governoring Body compared to others?

today as i was researching past and present members of the governoring body of j.w.

's something stood out to me that seemed out of proportion towards other name origins.. the vast majority appeared to be from the germanic peoples.

either they were originally from germany themself or their parents immigrated from germany.. here are some of the ones i researched and you should be able to spot just from their names a hint of their origins:.

Funny that you missed out the only actual German, Martin Poetzinger!

Slimboy I didn't list all of them is why i said some of the ones in my opening post. There is more but didn't list all of them.

A question for you though...where did you get your information about Martin being the only "Actual" German?

Maybe you might want to check out this link I provide and look where Karl Klein was born. Have you got any other reference to state otherwise than him being born in Germany? If so could you list it.

Edited to add: Slimboyfat I just checked the WT CD and it also list Karl as being born in Germany. So once again I ask what do you base your statement about Martin being only "actual" German on? Curious to research it myself since I'm into this today.

The reason I'm researching this is because I noticed something equally puzzling to me as regards the local Kingdom Hall I used to attend.

The majority of Elders that are/were appointed were of Germanic ancestory. Even the C.O.B.E. (formerly P.O.) has a very Germanic name.

Two of the Elders that aren't of German ancestory both married wives from families that are.

A good number of them can speak both English and German.

Is this just coincidence?

Do you think your odds of being appointed were increased depending on your last name?

Is this just me grasping at straws or do you feel there might be some substance behind it?

If you remember some of the last names of the Elders in your hall, it might be interesting experiment to type it in google search then type name origin and see what you come up with. Even if it don't give you a specific country of origin it will give you a general region for it.

And last but not least, if the anointed do indeed come from all parts of the earth, why are there no oriental, latino or arabic peoples been appointed to the Governoring body?

It only took what a hundred years for them finally to get a black man on the G.B. (Samuel Herd).

I'm sick of the human race!

i really am... just been attacked for posting on a dog rescue picture.

the dog was in a rta and as i was eating my dinner and couldn't see the pictures, heading or comments regarding the dog properly i posted that it could be ''dog bait injuries''... which in the area i live is a nasty problem which is rearing it's ugly head.

dogs are being stolen from back gardens to be used as bait.

She prayed for me.... and I spent the afternoon puking my guts out

i recently did a favour for one of my co-workers by exchanging a shift with her so she could have a day off when she needed it for a family event.. we worked together last night, and she was so excited about the family event that happened a couple of days ago - she really appreciated being able to go.

so this morning, at the end of our shift, she tells me that she is going to church before she goes home to sleep, and she is going to pray for me to have many good things from god for doing this favour for her.. i'm flattered that she thinks it was such a big deal, but i told her "no really, that is not necessary... you really don't have to pray for me!

" she was insistent!!

hmmmm come to think of it...ask her if she takes requests for prayers.

There's a couple brothers from my old hall I'd like her to pray for and hopefully with the same results.
