Think of this....when I go out to purchase alcohol (beer,wine,liquor etc..) they're supposed to ask for ID in the states to make sure you are of age.
This is of itself a check into my background, since they can see my date of birth on the ID as well as my full name etc. (generally address on it too)

Why don't the vass majority get upset and make a fuss over this invasion of privacy?
It could even be argued that they can track all my/your purchases and how often you bought alcohol. (credit card,debit etc.)

Something tells me this has less to do with privacy/background concerns and more to do with firearm sales.

What exactly does the WTS mean by "Christendom"? Are these the nations where Christianity is the dominant or national religion? But aren't these nations members of the UN?

As far back as I can recall the WT (JW's) have always referred to Christendom as all false religions that are claiming to follow Christ.
It is the predominant part of Babylon the Great (all false religion, the Great Harlot).
JW's think of themselves as the only ones representing true Christianity.

So the UN (Image of the Beast) is all the nations it represents finally turning on the Harlot(Babylon the Great) at some point.

i'm curious, as where i reside there's about to be a major brouhaha over the tax exempt status of a major player in this area.

reading and hearing the arguments from both sides conjured thoughts about the tax exempt status of religions and the arguments associated with that issue.

a significant portion of the arguments related to that issue center around how a tax exempt organization benefits it's community.

There have been occasions where they did help some in the community to learn how to read and write.

Naturally most of it came from studying the publications with some that were illiterate in the territory but still I have seen where they have used that in their arguments/reasoning of benefiting the community or general public.

I have the bound volumes of the WT for the years 1988,2004 and 2006 in the list above.

I'm not really interested in selling them but would be willing to loan them to help in your court case.

If you just paid the shipping to and fro wolud be fine with me.

Depending on how soon you need them, I imagine the shipping to you would cost a bit more if it needs to be very expeditious.

As far as the return shipping, it wouldn't matter to me if it took a month or more by ground (anything to save you some money) just as long as they were returned so that others might/may use them in the future for reference and court cases etc.

Also not sure where you are located but I'm in N.C.
If it is convenient or feasible for you to drive and pick them up from me that could be arranged as well.

i have been told jehovah's witnesses have made many prophesies, and none have come true.

is that true?.
