Tell us how you really feel and don't sugar-coat it so much. I think you're still beating around the bush.
i have neither friends nor family to turn to.
the result of being born in a cult.

i still cannot call the presiding overseer the cobe.
whatever.. anyway, i really don't follow what all is going on and just pick things up during or after the fact.
like when my wife says her meeting schedule is changed "this week" due to the c.o.
OnTheWayOut when I first read the title of this thread I thought your wife might be having a fling with the P.O.
So glad that wasn't the case. (it may sound crazy but replace P.O. in title with bartender, milkman, landlord, neighbor etc.)
smiddy C.O.B.E. is the new title of the lead dog Elder in the halls.
Used to be P.O.=Presiding Overseer
Now it's C.O.B.E=Coordinator of Body Elders
i was in middle of transitioning channels and it caught me off guard when i heard it but was something about jw's at the door and they kept ringing the doorbell.. didn't catch the whole episode so went to cbs.com and they haven't posted the one that aired tonight yet but it should be up soon, next couple days and maybe i can post a link then to it.. anyways was just curious if maybe someone else saw it and could fill in the details about what led to that discussion about jw's on there..
Snoozy thanks for filling that in for me.
Wasn't sure how they got on the subject of JW's because soon as I turned the channel over there they were already mentioning it.
I hate catching something in the middle like that and not knowing what sparked the conversation. :)
Anyways I'm sure some of the JW's will have their ego's stroked by saying something along the lines of, see we're having a bigger impact and being mentioned everywhere. Truly Jah is making his name known.

mariemcg since you're a member go to the members only part under Apostafests and Get-Togethers and look for a thread about lake Tahoe and you can see some of the pictures of some of the members that attended over the fourth of July week-end.
I wasn't there but enjoyed looking over the pics. :)
i haven't researched this but do library have copies of this book?
did you ever look for coc or any other book in a local library when you were a believer or when you began to have doubts?
how hard is it to find this book in a public library?.
I can say that when I first started having serious doubts and concerns over the WT Organization, I personally went to the local public library in hopes of finding CoC to read and was disheartened that they didn't have it avaiable. I even checked with the other public libraries in surrounding counties via their in-house electronic card catalogue and none of them had it. (you can have a book sent to your local library from one of the other counties if they have it available)
To this day I haven't read CoC but have read many excerpts from it and admire Ray for his courage in writing it.
Some may wonder why I still haven't purchased a copy or borrowed it to read, but at this point in my life I'm already mentally and physically out of the WT so don't really feel a need to.
But I do feel that years ago when I was first looking for it at the library, it would have been such a tremendous help for me at that time due to the passages I've read from it.
It is still on my to do list (to read) one day if I don't run out of time in this life. :)
I owe it to Ray Franz for giving me one of my first probing questions when I was younger about why would anyone ever leave or be DF from the GB.
today as i was researching past and present members of the governoring body of j.w.
's something stood out to me that seemed out of proportion towards other name origins.. the vast majority appeared to be from the germanic peoples.
either they were originally from germany themself or their parents immigrated from germany.. here are some of the ones i researched and you should be able to spot just from their names a hint of their origins:.

Also, 1 out 4 people in the US have a German background. When WW1 broke out, Milwaukee WI had the largest German speaking group in the world, it became disadvantageous to speak or have a German name...so that declined. German Americans were also put in jail. But they are still one of the largest ethnic group in the US whether they speak German or not.
This maybe why it's harder for me to reconcile the difference because in the area of the U.S. that I live in the majority here have more English,Irish and Scottish heritage than German. There's a few black families but not many.
When you look around at the local congregations here the vast majority of publishers come from one of these other backgrounds and yet most of the over-sight(authority) in the congregations is in the Germanic families even though there are fewer of them. I was a member of three local congregations and it is pretty much the same in all three. Heck I've been googling last names in these congregations and was surprised at how (to me anyhow) it was the same in each K.H.

very interesting stuff.
makes you think about what's important.. metatron.
Thanks for that link Metatron.
From the family and friends that I've had pass away, I'd have to concur with this list.
on a recent thread, i posted a question there but was too late.
it had fallen off the radar.
that thread was about someone who had an attorney mail notice to their local congregation that they had terminated membership.
