jw's redefine words.
they change lives as a result, with people actually thinking they are in control, when they are not.. here are some that really have caused me anxiety, arguments, and just complete frustration.
even when i was a "believer" some of these bothered me.. provision (rule).

for a while there was this arrangement, based on 2thess:3:14, wherby a talk was given on the service meeting describing a dangerous influence in the congregation, and reference was made to that scripture, thereby indicating to the congregation that this threat exists here, and that you should distance yourselves from anybody fitting that description.
frankly, it bothered me because even if somebody didn't know who was really being referred to, they felt like they might, so the congregation formed little fractures of suspicion.
i wrote to the society because of this divisive effect (that i'm sure wasn't the intended effect; creating a phantom "marked man," breaking up the unity in the cong...etc.).

Do they still do that at all? I guess you would have to have the elder's handbook, complete with current notes from CO meetings in the sidebar, to be able to answer this.

am I planning to stay in?
That sort of depends on how this thing works out. I'm very dissapointed in some of the policy now, which has changed my point of view, some. I'm still trying to understand why the Society has implemented some of the ideas that they have. If I hit a Eureka! moment, I may get myself back around to the straight and narrow. Or, the Society may "lighten up" on one of its' ridiculous stands and that would also be an indicator of the "reasonableness" that scripture advocates.
For now, service is very difficult. How can I direct people into an Organization that treats its' members as I am being treated? I can comment, but people aren't used to thoughts not stated in the paragraphs, so that makes me somebody to be wary of, doesn't it? Why does the congregation even bother discussing things together?
The big thing for me is to not let anger, or emotion, dictate my actions...like it has so many here in this forum, if I may say so.

aha! (wicked asyrian king?) Thanks, I won't bang my head against the wall anymore. You people are very entertaining, you know. I'm composing my thoughts, but I have a legal case with the WTS, so I need to use extreme caution so as not to screw up my "thing." You know, some feel that standing up for yourself is grieving the holy spirit? But I think it's just acting in harmony with my prayers...

so how does one go about having an avatar? There doesn't seem to be much help in the members area, as far as my profile goes.

no biggie. I'll have to share my stuff sometime. As it is, my wife would have a cow if she knew I was here...I mean, this is worse than PORNOGRAPHY!

I don't post much here, but I have a couple of pet peeves.
First, the bullying use of the word "exemplary." I hate it. What is that supposed to mean? It's so vague and subject to abuse by the "exemplary" one using it...Second, the word "worldly." WTF? Like, noticing a good-looking girl is "worldly." I guess breathing is , too. Or rattling off a couple of lines from Van Morrison is so "worldly?" Gimme a break!
Uh-oh. Now you got me started. How about "spiritual?" There's another brow-beating word, saved for special occasions, like when comparisons are drawn between obvious polar dirparities?
I'd better stop before I reallt start to rant, but these are some of the Power Words that are use to belittle and subdue during "counseling sessions."
OK... just thought I'd get that off my chest...
in the 1st study article of the april watchtower, a statement is made about some apostates opposing the use of the name jehovah.
i would like to seriously ask this question to lurkers and active witnesses.
why is it that in the new world translation the name jehovah apears in the greek scriptures (aka new testament) only 237 times and yet in the watchtower magazine between the years of 2000 to 2006 the name jehovah appears an average of about 3000 times per year?
what is the "J" version? Exactly...
