  What Do We Know for Certain?? Experts, Authorities, Scientists are often Dead WRONG

  do i know anything for certain?yes!when so-called "authority" predict the future - they are wrong.and yet - we always believe them.

  examples:________.

  Jehovah's house for Sale?

  when i drive by the kingdom hall i grew up attending at but, was sold directly to a church, i get angry.

  the elders who handled the sale didn't even remove the watchtower shaped bricks on each side of the sign near the street so, now they advertise for a baptist church.

  how many times as i grew up i heard things like: you should not do work ( such as clean carpets for a church) you wouldn't want to work at a cigarette making plant or a facility that makes bombs for the military.

  Sorry, JohnTron, I didn't expect anybody to take my comment seriously. I was simply parroting the Witness view of abandoning "dedicated " Kingdom Halls to be used for pagan worship.

  If Heaven is such a good place then how was it ever allowed to get to the state where a war was necessary.?

  the governing body has lovingly provided instructions and reminders to couples that they should pray before having sex.

  please be obedient and follow the wise counsel from the gb leaders who never stick their noses into other peoples business and are not creepy cult leaders at all....not!.

  "had he not created the first human pair so that they could cohabit, planted in them an attraction for each other and then commanded them to "be fruitful and become many"?

  My wife would never say a word that might seem to oppose the WT. She is disappointed in the people. For that reason, I don't think she would ever "report" me for anything to the elders. She knows that they won't handle things like she would expect God-loving men to do. I am not taking advantage of that and I'm hoping that she will arrive at the logical conclusion of why these people don't seem to be following "the perfect Law."

  My disappointment is with the God, not so much the people.

  local, strange jw thinking

  i was reading today that the last star wars movie will be playing next week.

  doing a little searching, i found that there have been 12 movies in the saga total, ( box office, total (12 films): $9.323 billion.)..

  it got me thinking about when the empire strikes back came out, it was the second movie ( 1980).

  A Veblen good?

  please forgive me and do not castigate me for overthinking this.. there is a marketing "law" named veblen good (goods, effect) which says that if you make something very expensive, that will make it more desirable.

  i know that sounds counter intuitive but think of the dyson fan, ferrari car, expensive perfume, and so on.

  put the price really high and people will clamour for it.

  I think of it as a cause and effect thing. The "everlasting life" thing may be outrageous when it's put forth by a branded religion, but crime and punishment / virtue and reward is deeply embedded in our makeup. How much effort we put into making improvements in ourselves will definitely affect our friendships. We may not reap rewards with everybody, but then, virtue is its' own reward too.
