Personally, I quietly made a medical power of attorney at my physician's office. I spelled out exactly what treatment I wanted and didn't want. I appointed someone close to me to act in my stead. When I got engaged to my now husband, I put him on on the form. Only those appointed know about it. They also have copies. It will keep the kooky JW family away from any medical decisions pertaining to me.

I told the elders that I would take blood and donate blood
by Daniel1555 ini found it important to be honest with my wife.
so i told her about my conscience decision that in a medical urgency i want blodless medicine but if a transfusion of blood or the 4 prohibited components is necessary to save my life or health i would accept it.
this would apply especially also for our child (that is not such a problem as in our country the wts recommends to comply with doctors as they have the right to decide concerning minors).. i showed her the reasons why i came to that conscience decision (biblical and logical reasons) and that jehovah and jesus do not like anyone to die because of this wrong bible application.. .

Their New Grey Bible- Why the change?
by Shanagirl init's been awhile since i've been here, but i just checked in the other day and have kind of been lurking and reading.
so, what's the purpose of the change in the jw nwt?
are they re-writing everything to go along with their new light?

Getting Stuck on the Idea of Closure
by OnTheWayOut ini may be suffering twice for having left the jehovah's witnesses and watching my jw wife and other family members stay in.
once for the changed situation (or loss) and another time for expecting to make progress in getting over it.. the 1969 book on death and dying by elisabeth kubler-ross introduced us to the kubler-ross model , commonly referred to as the " five stages of grief.
" they are very helpful, but the original idea of the book and the hypothesis was that when a person is faced with the reality of impending death , he or she will experience a series of emotional stages: denial, anger, bargaining, depression and acceptance.. it isn't always the case, but those stages are often felt by terminally ill patients.

OTWO, How sweet of you! You did make me feel like I'm not the only one who has "issues" years later. I've had people say "get over it". But it's just not that simple. It always manages to rear it's ugly head. The damage done is extensive and so unnecessary.
Yes, you're definitely not alone and neither am I.
Thank you again. ((Hugs))

OTWO,
I don't post here much, but I read here frequently. What you posted made perfect sense to me. I've been out 18 years. I'm still absolutely pissed at the deception fostered upon my family(allowing for personal responsibility). It's caused no end of heartache for my family. Please take care and know that you're not alone. Thank you for your eloquent post.

The Smoke and Mirrors of the Annual Meeting
by Billy the Ex-Bethelite inthe annual meeting seems to boil down to an opening talk about an "exciting new" bible museum and a closing talk about an "exciting new" new world translation.
sandwiched in between were the wt summary, a talk about indoctrinating the children fast/furious, and some "trip down memory lane.".
why would this "spiritual feast" seem to be anticlimactic?

Thanks, Billy. It's fun to watch the unravelling, if only from a distance.

I'm coming into this late, and maybe this has already been mentioned in another thread. If so, I apologize. But is the reason that no one has been able to get the NWT at all?
In my area(Michigan) I've been told by a friend that it's impossible to get bibles from the local congregations. So a rework of it is why? Have to change all the bad information AGAIN.

I love OUTLAW
by losingit inwhenever he responds to a topic, i just have to laugh out loud!
i love the visuals-- they are very much to the point.
even with serious topics, when outlaw shows up to contribute, i smile, chuckle, giggle, or let it all out!

This thread is the one that got me out of my "reading only" mode. Outlaw, you're an absolute hoot!

One for rape of a former girlfriend.
The other for raping his young granddaughter(not his only victim) He was protected in the past. Not this time. i'm sure he's getting exactly what he deserves in prison.
