  To JWs: My Unanswered Question

  here is a repost of a question i asked in another topic that hasn't yet been answered.

  are there any real jws reading this who can give a convincing answer?.

  if you are a sincere believer of the wtbts, i would like to ask you a fairly simple question that i have not seen answered in any of the wtbts publications.

  Skimmer: As you ask the question, it starts out like you really want to see the point of view of a Witness, but then the question seems (I don't know if that was your intention), but it seems like ridicule when asking "is the spirit-direction" of poor quality?" and "Is it intermitent?".

  Whateve the intentions are behind the question, I will try to answer, although I expect some ridicule and some comments such as "I'm blinded", "you're an idiot" and things of that nature.

  First, Yes I believe the faithful and discreet slave is Jehovah's only true channel. This is based on faith. I learned many Bible truth's through the FDS. Although, there have been updated information as our brothers investigate the scriptures closely, the basic truths that I was tought have not changed. Yes, other religions might get some things right (some do not believe in a fiery tormet, or the trinity, etc.), but they are not organized as Jehovah's people. I belive Jehovah is a constant and organized person and as such, would have theocratically organized people doing his will.

  I also belive the FDS is guided by Holy Spirit in the sence that base their doctrines in the Bible which was written with the guidance of Holy Spirit. I also believe that each reader of biblical literature published by the WTS should look up the scriptures for the basis of the information. I also believe that one should not be stubborn in thinking that try to get ahead of Jehovah's appointed FDS. Instead, I humbly wait on their guidance and although I have my own ideas and thoughts, I realize that Jehovah has not chosen me as part of his FDS. See, Jehovah is a God of order and he has his reasons for doing things the way he does. I am nobody to question his ways.

  By stressing the need for an organisation to teach the Witnesses and guide them in their thinking and conduct, the Watchtower Society effectively usurps the role of the Holy Spirit who, as Jesus promised, ‘will teach you all things’ and ‘guide you into all truth.’ (John 14:26; 16:13)

  If this is true, why did the apostle Paul travel to the congregations in the 1st century? All those brothers and sisters where annointed with holy spirit, but they needed the guidance of those that Jehovah used to give them food at the proper time.

  Similarly, today the FDS gives counsel and helps us keep up to date with Jehovah's word and ready for trials we must encounter.

  Misquotes

  has anyone ever written to the society,with evidence of misquotes, and asked them for an explanation of this?

  or has anyone ever written and asked them why they quote and don't give the source of the quote?

  if i did this, do you think i would get into trouble in the congregation, etc.?

  I suggest that you write to them. Instead of pages and pages of letters, just give them two or three examples. Also, write with the purpose of learning and not in a defiant way. They will answer your letter if you write with a humble tone.

  Wrong date

  hello i'm new to the whole jw study thing, but they said it fell in 607 but due to the advice of others here i looked it up.

  i found in 3 encyclopedia's online that it fell in 586. i printed them out and am going to get more.

  i'm going to show the lady i study with, i'm just curious what you think will happen, and if she will try to deny it.

  Since the fall of Babylon date has been confused by many and cannot be confirmed (some think it was 586, others 587, even some sources put at about 605 BCE), then we have to use a date that pivotal date (a confirmed or that historical sources agree as accurate). That date is the year that Babylon was taken by Cyrus, which is 537 BCE. Prophecy foretold that the Jews would be in captivity from the Babylonians for 70 years. The Jews were taken captive when the Babylonians took over Jerusalem. So if you subtract 70 years to the pivotal year of 537 BCE, you come up with 607 BCE as the fall of Jerusalem to the Babylonians.

  I visited Carlo's page and he is not one of Jehovah's Witnesses, nor a Circuit Overseer as he claims. If he were, he would post where his present circuit is. His purpose is to discredit Jehovah's Witnesses and to give advice as he sees it. This way, a person can ask themselves "That's the advice a circuit overseer gives? I can't believe he said that?" etc...

  Carlo is really an apostate making it look as if he is a circuit overseer.

  JUSTICE #14 - Caring for the Needy - Not!

  caring for the needy not!

  when i first became a jw in the late 1960s and all the years thereafter, the watch tower society would frequently boast about the loving care and concern that jws show among themselves, providing for the needy during disasters, even helping the world.

  the society would publish in the magazines, or comments at conventions about how the world observed our efficiency and overwhelming spirit of giving.. what about the rest of the year?

  Amazing:

  I think this is a clear case of how elders misinterpret how the WTBTS helps others. Or maybe they are just not fully aware of how brothers are helped around the globe. When I was in Nicaragua, we had 3 donation boxes in the Kingdom Hall. One for local congregation, one for the WorldWide Work and one for the local brothers/sisters that were in need. Some of the sisters were very poor and the congregation would purchase food for their families and pay their bills.

  I also have a friend that is serving as a missionary in South America and he said that all the Kingdom Hall constructions are paid for (not loans) from Brooklyn. This is because the country is needy and the friends cannot afford it. So many are helped through the contributions given in the States or other countries that have good economies.

  Regarding the brother that went through the JC. By reading the facts that you state, I think the elders made a mistake if that was all to it. In the congregation I attend, we always send clothes to Mexico. We also have many that are illegal aliens and although they are not able to serve in the congregation as MS or elders, they are baptized brothers and sisters. Everytime that they go to Mexico to see a sick relative they must sneak into the US again. We don't form JC on them. I think elders should show empathy for their brothers. Unfortunately some don't and see things only from their own perspective.

  Technically the brother was doing something illegal, but they should have understand his motives and the good he was doing to those poor friends in Mexico. Although, we do not know how the brother reacted to the counsel or the questions, if he reacted in a defiant (spell?) way or a humble one. Either way, the elders should of had more consideration.

  This in no way shows that the matter would of been handled the same way in other congregations.

  Maybe you are right about some witnesses that visit this board. Of course, that is your opinion. Still, they are a minority compared to the insults from Ex-jws on this board.

  You are way wrong about most Witnesses. I am not a literature salesman. I have had to pleasure of bringing in about 50 persons into the organization. Most had terrible lives, some drunkards, some drug addicts, some had family problems. Through Bible study, they were able to apply counsel such as the sermon of the mount and others. I am proud that I was able to guide them into the teachings of our Lord, Jesus and his father.

  Don't tell me to wake up. I'm already up and enjoy serving Jehovah.

  Your comment is not true. You misread the information. They never said "Stay off of the Internet". I happen to work as a website designer and I am on the internet 8 hours per day. Obviously, the Society will not object to my job. The purpose of the information is for Witnesses to be cautious with what they read, because it could be damaging to their spirituality. They have an official site, so it was unnecessary for individual Witnesses to have their own explaining beliefs, etc.

  You are also not being truthfull when saying that these site are for Jehovah's Witnesses. In reality, when a Witness posts here, he is insulted and the first accusation always is "that is a typical response for someone brainwashed by the WTBTS". That is just silly, because a Witness is not given a fair chance to explain his stance.

  This is about the stupidest thing I've ever heard of. The attendant overseer must have been an idiot, or you are exagerating. All I know is that it was never an instruction from the Society. I've been involved with Convention arrangements long enough to know that it wasn't.
