Yes I remember that conversation...which is why I said I hoped you'd made some progress since then. Last I recall she was trying to open up a bit but I guess that didn't pan out. Sorry to hear...

It's amazing that after YEARS of doing nothing BUT studying they still pressure ex-JWs to do just that. As if we're going to read something we didn't before and have some miraculous revelation that changes our minds about everything.

I'd love to hear more of your stories on here! I always enjoy a good read and you've yet to disappoint me.

i know there's been some talk of paranormal...but i wanted to be more specific with my post.

i am going to admit to something i have only recently come to realize about my time being raised as a jw.

blame it on selective memory (or lack of much memory at all).

How interesting! I didn't realize what I was doing when I did it, either, it seemed completely natural to me at the time. I remember being jolted back to my body on a few occasions, though, when my stepmother apparently noticed I was in my seat "spacing out" and shook my arm. It's that "falling out of bed" feeling a lot of people get when first falling asleep...in some recent reading I've done about OOB experiences they say that feeling is actually a person beginning the OOB process but getting scared before it is complete and jumping back into their body. I never tried to talk to anyone while out of it, though.

Yikes...no, that's not my real picture. I'm really a middle-aged man covered in lots of body hair.

FB...when you are ready you will...I have only just begun talking about this experience within the last year or so. That's after 12 years out of the organization and even more years since I was actually able to do it. Some things just take time...I'm glad I was able to at least show you that you are not the only one.

I can't see anyone talking you into anything at this point...at least nothing that you didn't already want to do. LOL

I remember some of our conversation about your wife, but that was awhile ago and I was hoping you'd made some progress with her since then.

My parents are inactive and I still have JW-style issues with them...I can't imagine what it would be like if they were still fully IN!

I thought I recognized your story...glad you finally posted here!

So how long have you been out again? I'm sure you probably already told me but my memory fails me. Also, I had been hoping things with your wife would have gotten better by now. Sounds worse, though, that sucks. She's not still a JW, is she?

When I first read the title of this thread I thought it was about how the Elders (and others in the congregation who may have heard rumors) treat people who are suspected of "sin" before an investigation and decision are even made. CONTEMPT.

But about Maddie's thread...I agree that some weren't very nice. I had much respect for those that were simply happy for her and her newfound peace, though. Who cares where it comes from as long as it's THERE?

when they'd warn us at every circuit assembly not to read apostate literature, remember how they'd tell us if we received it in the mail, to throw it away immediately?

what thoughts went through your mind?.

mine were: "i don't think i can throw it away.

Actually, I just found a picture of the monkey, it's an 80's "antique" and someone is selling one on Ebay. Mine's face was broken in front so I was shoving his thumb into the foam, instead. LOL Here's a photo of him intact!

BIGGEST SCANDAL OF ALL!!!!!!!!!!!

i really believe this is one of the huge scandals of the wtbts.

to start, i just posted on the friends topic, a thread on the 07 circuit assembly.

i received replys that made me think of how if children could not be bapticed, how that alone could have blunted some of the disfunction in our lives.

This is a REALLY good point! I left at 18 so technically my baptism at 9 should be null and void since I left as soon as I became a legal adult.

For the person that mentioned the law not being able to force a person to love someone else (ie a parent to love their child)...I don't really think this is the point. The DFing that took place against a child (or upon their reaching legal adulthood) should be publicly revoked in the congregation and an announcement made that the person is no longer to be viewed as DFed but instead viewed as if they had never been baptized at all.
