  (Just a side note on the last comment. I know of a brother that was inspired to accept a bible study because a brother decided to respond with kindness when the householder was very mean and insulting. After he demanded the brother to get off his porch he stopped the brother and invited him back. He apologized and told the brother he was looking for someone who really demonstrated the fruitages of God's "personality". He said he felt anyone who's religion taught them to return kindness for evil must be sticking to the Bible. Remember, you NEVER KNOW who is watching or who you are talking to. Follow the counsel of the FDS and you will never go wrong.)

  What a load of CRAP. I'm what I guess you'd call "agnostic"...in the middle with regard to whether there is a God or not...and I myself practice the "kill them with kindness" technique when dealing with people who are mean/insulting. Does that mean this guy would have become agnostic had I stopped at his door to push my beliefs on him and met his meanness with kindness? And I love how it's the FDS's counsel that matters, not the Bible, with these people. Eyeopener!

  does anyone remember being a little kid and being forced to sit through those 2 hour meetings?

  specifically being made to listen to graphic accounts of whatever country that was going through horrific persecution.

  (or any other horrors you might remember).

  Oh man...fingernails pulled off, bamboo being shoved up under the nails, branding irons, things being put in womanly parts (and the other end too), appendages being cut off, blood-sucking creatures attached to your flesh or put into fresh wounds, chemicals poured into fresh wounds, infection, eyeball torture techniques, gassing, beatings, rape, etc. etc. etc. All things I was scared to death would happen to me in "the end"...not to mention watching the same happen to my loved ones and fellow "brothers and sisters". I just KNEW I would cave and not make it to Paradise...that I'd end up fleeing to the hills, hiding in a cave, and having Jehovah know where I was no matter where I hid. I imagined being crushed by a mass of boulders being thrust upon me in his wrath.

  Yes, I remember the fear and nightmares...no fun whatsoever. Thinking back now, though, it's funny how we weren't allowed to watch horror movies or violent cartoons, yet the stories were were told through the meetings/materials created a far worse imaginative scenario in our heads than any Hollywood producer could make up. At least I can watch a horror movie and not have to think, "That's going to happen to me!" *shudder*

  Awww...I saw a moose with her baby one time when vacationing in NH. They were on the side of the road and a bunch of people had pulled over to get pictures. I WILL say she looked pretty pissed off, my parents made us kids stay in the car in case she suddenly decided to charge in protection of her young. Very cool sight to see, though!

  i have a few which still either anger me, make me sad or just make me grateful that i am no longer one of them.

  1 - "well, everyone is going to die anyway, so if it at armageddon then ce la vie" 2 - "the disater today at the world trade centre is sad, but exciting" 3 - (an elder) "when armageddon happens, i want to be at a window, watching it all".

  Not sure if this was an organization-wide thing or not but I remember when clip-on ties were introduced and subsequently deemed "innappropriate" for the witness "brothers" to wear. Apparently you weren't a "good" witness if you didn't wear an actual NOOSE around your neck. Talk about getting nit-picky!

  Mike...before everyone knew what was actually going on they probably thought it was the beginning of Armageddon at Bethel. Lock the doors and watch as Jehovah removes the wicked from the earth! Oops...no Armageddon and now they look like a bunch of asses...good job "brothers"!

  i just need somewhere to bitch.

  i usually bitch with other people at work, but they have lots of meetings going on today, so i'm stuck muttering to myself.

  got an email this morning that we're finally getting our review and raises next week.

  I once got a job I wanted because of poor scheduling on their part. I went in for my interview, sat there for an hour before they sent me home because they were "too busy" to see me. Told me to come back the next day so I did. Sat there for another hour when they again said "sorry, it's just too busy right now" (it was a restaurant). I said "I'll wait it out!" and proceeded to sit there for THREE HOURS...not one eye roll or complaint, I just kept reassuring them I didn't mind waiting...so by the time the owner got to me he didn't even ask any questions, he just gave me the job.
