I am one of the newbies that really hates to see this site shut down. I was hoping to get to know some of you better.

Caved ! Went to DC ...but....
by yknot inall was going well......i had prepared some pages for my khs kids regarding 4 'forces' and they got a nice little science lesson.
they spent morning filling in the blanks, wordfinds, connect the dots and coloring pages.
parents of course were scribbling away at their notebooks.. fast forward to the afternoon......young people presentations..... well instead of bobble head bobbing in a sea of unison......there was a quiet but audible snickering going on that continued throughout the entire presentations....in my section.. turns out the generation that was the test subjects of the ypa v1 ( i was 17), thought it was all so funny and badly scripted.

YPA refers to the "Young People Ask" book. I remember that book too.

You were not allowed to say "God Bless You" when someone sneezes.

for "born-ins"
by Mandette indoes anyone remember being a little kid and being forced to sit through those 2 hour meetings?
specifically being made to listen to graphic accounts of whatever country that was going through horrific persecution.
(or any other horrors you might remember).

She'd wear a reversible jacket and carry various colored scarves in her bookbag to put over her head as she went from door to door. Seems like she'd take of the jacket sometimes and tie a scarf around her waist to change up her appearance.
StAnn that is funny to me, did it not occur to her that she wasn't fooling anybody; the bookbag is the biggest clue!

What Draws Out The Lurker/Newbies
by Not Feeling It ini'm sure this has been discussed.
i was wondering what attracts a lurker/n00b to post for the first time.
i made my first post in someone else's thread eschewing the "hi, i'm new" thing.. for anyone, particularly the lurkers/noobies:.

No lurking for me like some of the others, I was ready to find some people that understand where I am coming from. I have made some great friends since I left about 4 years ago, but still feel a void since the "friends" I had all my life have disappeared. I don't want to bash the witnesses at all and so far since I have been on this site, I don't really see bashing, just facts.

Hello SadFox,
I am so sorry that you have had such a hard time, I have been through depression too. You never know, your kids my turn around; there is a post on here that I was reading earlier "my wife just talked to 2 JWDs" was the subject on the active posts, it may be encouraging to you.
Hang in there. Talk to you soon.

Hi I wanted to say hello, this is my first day on this forum. I am 40 years old and was a JW from birth. I am living in Georgia and have lived in Florida too. I have been divorced for 3 years. My daughter is 16 and she has had the good sense not to even think about getting involved deeply with the JWs. She still has connections with inactive witnesses. It's been a long road to leave for me; but worth the effort. I have lost so many friends and still am sad about that. That's why I have been searching for people who understand where I am coming from and hope to make some friends on here.
