I can not stress enough that science is taught but at present both of these two theories are being avoided and open for student's personal interpretation.
OH MY GOD!!! Are you saying that my preteen daughter will be denied an equal education when she goes to High School?! I can't believe that. You say you're from the MidEast but I'm guessing that's a ruse ;-) and you live more like in the MidWest where this may be true. I'm sure hoping so.
I'd like you to know that there are many, many patriotic people here who love their country and are proud to be Americans, and we fight for the Separation of Church and State as our forefathers set forth in the Constitution and the Bill of Rights. I'm sick of extremists trying to hijack my country. Thomas Jefferson would be appalled.
Religion needs to be taught ONLY at home until the child is older, then a comparative religion class with all the different creation myths is appropriate.
I have two questions:
1) If the Bible didn't tell the Genesis story, would Creationism ever be taught? Ever?! If you can answer that truthfully, you've got to agree that this is a religiously-based argument and not based on scientific evidence.
2) When 'alternatives' are taught side-by-side with evolution, are the Hindu and Native American creation myths given equal billing to Biblical stories? Ditto above.

Yeah they really do spy. I was assigned to study with this newly-reinstated sister and she told me she knew her worldly husband was cheating, so she and my friend put on wigs and followed him in a car till they saw him meeting the woman in a motel. She got her divorce.
Funny(?) thing is, 3 years later she got a taste of her own medicine. She started fooling around with my brother-in-law, and the elders had my husband and a friend tail them (YES, I still have the mustache and wig he used!!). They found them neckin' in a parked car up in the mountains. They said they were praying.
Now she's my sister-in-law.

Check out my molester's Christian mission web site!
by morrisamb inour molester father wrote my brother ronny in sarnia - he also wrote my sister marina c/o of ronny - if you read my book, you would believe the bs he's dishing out..said "donald wrote he got buggered many times when it didn't happen that many times".
that's like a rapist writing the rape victim: "i only raped you once.
you liar!".

Donald, I've been to your site and I remember the letter your father sent to you. Absolutely unbelievable. It boggles my mind how human beings can be so damaged. Good for you for keeping it alive so you can protect others- now THAT'S what a watchtower is for! I'm sure it's not easy for you. Thanks for the warning and take care.

Bethel: Pathway to Apostasy
by Black Man inat the 'big house' you go either one of two ways, company man or apostate.
i think for many that went, it demystified the whole organization and you saw firsthand that there wasn't holy spirit influencing anything - only the muses of sheltered, out-of-touch old men and political bureaucrats.
i work in the corporate world and i saw just as much if not more politics in bethel.

We visited my husband's cousin at Bethel on our honeymoon. Bumped into Fred Franz in the elevator- like meeting a movie star, I was excited to be there. Till I went into cousin's room and the sadness overwhelmed me. It looked indeed like a prison cell. I had never met him before, but I got the feeling that his spirit was broken. He only lasted another month there, then back home to Hawaii and the big fade. He's still inactive, for the past 30 years now. As far as I know, he's never told anybody why.

Insearchoftruth, A most important thing is to not appear opposed to her studying. As soon as you do that, they will read her all kinds of scriptures about enduring persecution and how any opposition from family members proves that Satan doesn't want her to study, blah, blah, blah. Don't play into their hands. You said, "I may talk about how I am an engineer and do QA by my trade, then research may not be an issue....I also got the line from my wife that I am a smart person so she has no idea how I have not figure this all out by now.....I hate full jw mode!" I hate to say this, but JWs are actually insulting you when they say you're smart. In their mind they're recalling scriptures like 1Cor chapter 1: 19 For it is written: “I will make the wisdom of the wise [men] perish, and the intelligence of the intellectual [men] I will shove aside.” 20 Where is the wise man? Where the scribe? Where the debater of this system of things? Did not God make the wisdom of the world foolish? [...]26 For YOU behold his calling of YOU, brothers, that not many wise in a fleshly way were called, not many powerful, not many of noble birth; 27 but God chose the foolish things of the world, that he might put the wise men to shame; and God chose the weak things of the world, that he might put the strong things to shame; 28 and God chose the ignoble things of the world and the things looked down upon, the things that are not, that he might bring to nothing the things that are... They commonly begin sentences with, "True-hearted people know..." or "Open-hearted people will see..." or "Truly intelligent people will agree..." so when you don't know, or see, or believe it must therefore be because you aren't true-hearted, open-hearted, or truly intelligent. If you can stay loving and appear open to them but then tell them 'I'm sorry this doesn't make sense to me', 'this doesn't seem logical', 'this just doesn't feel right to me' you'll have a chance of showing your wife by your example that they're wrong.[aaaagghhh! I sound like a WT!!!!] I guess I'm saying to play by their rules and beat them... Good luck, we're all with you! And whatever you do- I'm sure you've been told this before- NEVER admit to being on these forums!

Has anyone rejoined & gone undercover to rescue a family member?
by hopie ini rejoined, and went undercover in 1993, after losing my daughter for 10 years because of their shunning policy.. it took 2 years to deprogramme her, but i was successful, along with exposing her elder husband as a child molester.. she lives within 5 miles of me now, and we are enjoying our time together as never before.
i wrote a book about my experience, if you are interested in reading it, pm me, and i'll send you the amazon link.. if you had a simular experience, i would love hearing about it.. i would like to add a big (thank you) to simon, i'll miss your board.. hopie.

Congrats Avishai! And to everyone who has sacrificed for their loved ones. It's not easy to sit there listening to the crap, and I don't blame anyone for not doing it. I did it for 14 years, and by my patience my eldest is out and we're great friends. My youngest is still up in the air, but I knew that if I broke away publicly it would start a war with my husband and he could brand me the heretic that I am- then none of my kids would hardly speak to me. It was a choice- still not sure it was the right one 'cause I have suffered so much as the meetings and 'friends' slowly ate away at my personal being. But hey, we'd give our lives for our kids, I can do this.

My theory about the behavior and obsession of some ex-JWs
by Simon ini've had this theory for some time and alluded to it occassionally but have never explored it in detail.. it is of course a huge generalisation so no, not everyone will fit into the boxes and i'd like people's opinion.
i don't know everyone's circumstances so it's based on a small sample of some of those i do know something about.
it could be completely wrong, it's just an idea.. basically, i have seen a difference between some of those ex-jws who walked out vs those who were kicked out.. the most bitter and obsessive seem to be the kicked out and, i must add, those who were legitimately kicked out.

Wow, where do I start? As you can see by my posts I am new to this board. I'm very sorry for Simon that disturbed people have been harassing him- there's NO excuse for that! But please, Simon, refrain from huge generalizations. I have experience with many faders and many df'ds, and to say that one is better than another- even "generally speaking"- has no backing whatsoever and it's very unkind. I come to this board to be encouraged or to relate to peoples' pain and it's helpful for me. What's NOT helpful for me is listening to a flame war by Hilary_Step and Gerard. Both of them are equally insulting. And thank you Sirona for your level-headedness.

Honesty, Can I request any records the WTS has on me? If so, how do I go about doing this? Thanks!
