in 1878 j. g. smith published a novel titled seola.

in 1924 it was revised by a bible student (jw) and published under the title angels and women.

it was recommended by the watchtower society in two golden age magazines.. according to the watchtower's view of how the book was written, angels and women is an automatic writing book.

In my training in the borg the "angels" that fell away could never be redeemed because they were "perfect" and did not make a mistake but a "decision" that could not be undone.

Dogis god...how could "your training" be so different from what Atlantis presented above which was published by the Society?

I thought JWs worldwide were all supposed to be mindlinked on the same page.

Elder stakeouts! Anyone done one / been a victim of one?

suppose the elders get an anonymous letter or phone call, or even a brave soul tells them that they no "brother so-and-so" is sleeping with "sister suzy q".

or a believing jw has a "non-scriptural" divorce, and wants proof her ex is sleeping with someone else.

the elders' manual says the "strong circumstantial evidence, such as evidence that the accused spent all night in the house of someone of the opposite sex who is not his wife or a family member" (paraphrase) can be used as evidence in a judicial case.. to get such "strong circumstantial eveidnce", elders have been known to "stake out" a house, spending all night in a car watching a house.. in all my time as an elder, i was never involved in one of these.

They're living in the 1920s. Young people today would laugh at the idea that a single man and a single woman spending the night under the same roof is evidence of them having sex. That's just not reality.

Don't they use some scripture about "avoiding the appearance of evil" to justify that?

Propaganda news has it that in China, they do not execute prisoners until they have a call for an organ. In this way, the country makes money back from sale of prisoner parts.

It looks like this could become a lucrative business instead of prisoners being a monetary drain on society.

By the way, the proposed guillotine bill for Ga. was shot down in the mid 90"s. But that's not to say it might not resurface.

Demand creates a need for sources. This seems like a co-ersion or business rather than a genuine "donation" from the person.

How Many JW Terms Aren't in the Bible?

the following youtube video made by a young person who is unbaptized and hopes to become a publisher says that the word "rapture" isn't in the bible.

a comment on the video says that the words "disfellowship", and "god's organization" aren't in the bible either and that the name jehovah isn't written in the new testament aka greek scriptures.

can we further enlighten this young person as to how many words jws typically use that aren't in the bible?

so i have been having problems with the renters that moved in next door.

the last 3 months have been a living hell.

i have an ongoing complaint with the slumlord that owns the property and the city is taking him to court for derelict vehicles next week (which i anonymously complained about, but i am sure i am being blamed for).

But..You have`nt in one post on this thread,said you tried to talk to the guy..You just kept reporting him.

Outlaw, there are some people that common sense and instinct tells you not to talk to them. And you also know instinctively that it is a pretensious waste of breath as far as accomplishing a civil understanding. Some people are dangerous.

You might want to keep a camera handy at all times.

That way if you see him in your yard coming to your door, take his pic from the window to verify that he is in your yard.

When he drives his car through your yard take a pic.

If you can, get license plate numbers of visiting vehicles. (Maybe one of his friends is "wanted" and you could arrange a bust.) Why wait till he blows up the neighborhood making meth!

Maybe you can find some EPA violations and report his landlord.

Nov. WT: Paradise of Pleasure

i was reading through the nov. wt that ynot posted.

there was an article that referred to the garden of eden as the "paradise of pleasure".

that wording did not set right with me.

No, but I have been reading a lot of stuff lately on different religions.

I know about the New System concept and the Paradise.

What disturbs me is the way it was worded. It wasn't like "the paradise garden" or something with pastoral images. It just sounded decadent to me the phrase "paradise of pleasures".
