  i just wondered.

  i mean ok, the catholic church seems to make 'adjustments' more or less , by accepting previously held prejudices.

  against certain things, like gays, or birth control, or rather tolerate it more, but is that a genuine change of doctrine?.

  Stop making excuses, every single religion is man made and deities were created by humans. That's pathetic. The OP asked if churches made changes over the years. The answer is YES. The rcc have chance doctrines like any other church through history like any other church. The thing is that they had a hell of a head-start to cover their tracks.

  Athanasian Creed (ca. 400 AD):

  "Whoever wishes to be saved, needs above all to hold the Catholic faith; unless each one preserves this whole and entire, he will without a doubt perish in eternity. . . This is the Catholic faith' unless everyone believes this faithfully and firmly, he cannot be saved." (Denzinger 39, 30)

  Every religion have to evolve and adapt if they want to survive. Officially, before Vatican 2 in 1965 AD, all non-Catholic churchgoers will go to HELL! Today it is different!

  Sign of the cross not practiced by apostles but started in 9th century! Tertullian made the sign on the forehead. Today it is different!

  Eucharist: Withholding the communion cup from the laity began in 1416 AD. Eucharist: Frequency of communion changed from weekly to daily in 500 AD.

  Baptism changed from immersion to sprinkling in 1311 AD. No infant baptism till 4th century.

  No Pope was considered infallible until 1870 AD

  They have to change, adapt or face extinction.

  "Scientific literacy" is the knowledge and understanding of scientific concepts and processes. Understand experiment and reasoning as well as basic scientific facts and their meaning. Best part, you don't have to be an expert or PhD.

  This is a very misleading and dishonest comment. Science is a systematic enterprise that builds and organizes knowledge in the form of testable explanations and predictions about the universe.

  Science is sometimes, for the convenience of people who want to see results, divided into applied science and research science. The first applies scientific discoveries to the development of new and improved technology, from cars to iPods. The second pursues scientific knowledge for its own sake with no particular practical goal in mind. The nice thing about this pure research is that it often ends up providing the raw material and knowledge for unexpected practical uses.

  Science has noting to do with myths. Except debunking them.

  It is very implausible, for instance, that a biography would be written for the obscure itinerant philosopher Demonax in his own lifetime (by Lucian), yet god incarnate (or the son of god), who riled up all Judaea with talk, should inspire nothing like it until decades after his death. Funny, don't you think?

  No one has the slightest physical evidence to support a historical Jesus; no artifacts, dwelling, works of carpentry, or self-written manuscripts. All claims about Jesus derive from writings of other people. There occurs no contemporary Roman record that shows Pontius Pilate executing a man named Jesus.

  All documents about Jesus came well after the life of the alleged Jesus from either: unknown authors, people who had never met an earthly Jesus, or from fraudulent, mythical or allegorical writings. Although one can argue that many of these writings come from fraud or interpolations, I will use the information and dates to show that even if these sources did not come from interpolations, they could still not serve as reliable evidence for a historical Jesus, simply because all sources about Jesus derive from hearsay accounts.

  Hearsay does not work as evidence because we have no way of knowing whether the person lied, or simply based his or her information on wrongful belief or bias.

  42 historians recorded important events during or shortly after the supposed times of Jesus, but NO ONE recorded anything about Jesus, apostles, or any supposed acts that we find only in the Bible.
