Welcome Anthony. I too know the pain of the leather belt (and I'm a girl) and the sadness of a missed education. You know how it went "you'll never get to finish high school in this system" and here we are 35+ years later and still in 'this system'.

About the discipline thing - I'm convinced that many JW parents of our era used the guilt and fear of 'the truth' to make up for poor parenting skills.

Anyway welcome to the forum and glad you've woken up to the lie that is the 'truth'.

these come and go on and off.. have you had experience with them, and are they something to worry about?.

someone said that the sweats are a symptom of a heart problem.. i'm going to my doctor to ask him, but would like to know your experiences, as well..

Rutherford 1942 "Don't have kids till after Armagedon...Watchtower 2008 same advice!! Sick!

i was shocked to read in the "witnesses only" study watchtower this stupid rutherford policy was still in place, compare.. rutherfords last book "children" {ironic title} 1942 - page 281 "wait until after armagedon to bring children into the world...it is only afew years...until armagedon...those with infants will have greater woe...it will be a far greater difficulty to care for them during the tribulation...".

so if you were 20 years old in 1942 and waited......till 2011.....do the math.. wachtower 2008 april 15 p.19 "heading: "single and childless for a noble purpose.

" ...numerous couples have decided to remain childless...to remain free to serve jehovah...putting kingdom interests above some of the privledges that go with marriage...jehovah will not forget...there will be a great tribulation...it will be a difficult time for us adults and children alike...".

When she died I found out that ironically she left most of her estate to the Watchtower! The very organization that gave them life altering bad advice ends up with a huge sum of money for this deed.

the first thing I thought is well maybe that is one of the reasons behind the WTS admonition not to have children. If a JW couple have no children then there is a strong possiblity their estate will be left to the WT.

EntirelyPossible that was heartbreaking to read. My first thought when I finished reading your letter was "I wish there was someway this letter could be published so that people can see just how insidiously evil this JW cult is". Then as I read the replies I notice that Designs obviously was thinking along the same lines when he sugguest getting it published in the Brooklyn newspaper.

My heart goes out to you EP as I know all too well the feelings of remorse and shame and guilt that I have from dragging my son along to the KH for all his childhood years and the way we filled him with fear and guilt for what was just normal little boys behaviour. My only consolation is that my husband and I left the cult when my son was 15 and he has a great life now.

Wishing you all the best as you deal with this incredibly difficult and heart wrenching situation.

I too was told I would never get to high school in this system. Well I finished high school 37 years ago! And all those JWs who would never grow old in this system are dying just like every one else in the world. It is so disgusting and evil really how many of us were duped by the WTS's lies and now we have woken up to the truth about the truth are left to pick up the pieces of our lives and get things in place for our retirement while there is still time.

I'm going to start snowboard cross races for......

since i have dual nationality with bosnia and canada, i thought long and hard about since i need to apply for my fis race license to race international for any country.

i will do races for bosnia and herzegovina, i'm going to apply for my fis license from them and there is so much good news, i'm going to start my training soon, like in 2 weeks.

i'll keep everyone posted.

You sound like an amazing young man with a clear vision of your future. Don't let anyone rob you of that. I know the pain only too well of having your youthful goals and dreams squashed by an organization that doesn't care for you one bit. I was told I would never finish high school. Well that was 40 years ago!

Try and find every bit of support you can to reach your olympic goals.
