I heard they made similar boasts during WWII when Hitlers V rockets were hitting England.

Sick Highlights 2009 Yearbook =Bosnian Witnesses claim divine protection from Jehovah??
by Witness 007 indont you hate this!
witnesses claiming jehovah saved them while thousands around them, including brothers die!!
{p.169} during the war a brother after seeing his fellow witnesses executed for their nuetrality, he being the last one alive, compromised and joined the army {as you would} the yearsbook states "three months later he returned home due to illness...the life he tried to save by compromising he lost prematurely due to sickness..." lesson = jehovah kills compromisers in the end!.

Can't speak with me, unless they need something
by Stan Conroy inafter many, many years outside of the jw world, my elderly parents finally decided to give me an ultimatum.
i either rejoin the jw's or they will never speak with me again.
apparently my brother is going to get the same choice.

What Did You Do With All Your Watchtower Publications?
by minimus ini needed room when i moved so i sadly threw my entire library away.
i mentioned this to an exjw.
he and his wife took all the hundreds of books, including bound volumes from the 1800s and are now using them for research and proof of watchtower lies.. what did you do with your books?.

Well, if any one doesn't want their old literature I'll be glad to take them off your hands. I'm willing to pay postage if you're willing to pack 'em up.

Just when I knew I was about to be df'd I sold almost all of them to a brother for $5. He kept insisting on paying me more. I also tossed a collection of sixtysome "Truth" books each one of them in a separate language. It took me a while to sense the irony of the Russian "Truth" book which on its spine had one single word, Pravda.
Now I regret not having kept them and collecting more.

Did anyone see "Earth without people"?
by hubert init was on the history channel tuesday night.. if you kept in mind the j.w.
theory of a "paradise earth", you'd see it would be absolutely impossible for 6 or 7 , even 20 million people to "maintain" the earth to keep it in liveable condition, never mind a "paradise earth".. all that time i was watching it, i was hoping my daughter and son-in-law was looking at it, too.
i wanted to call them and tell them about it, but i am not allowed to "talk about anything that has a religious agenda" for fear of losing them.. did anyone else see it?.

"The show is a thought experiment"
That's true about the show Leo but hubert turned it into a post apocalyptic analogy involving the witnesses. While the witness take on this is absurd it would make an interesting thought experiment of its own to imagine the earth with 99.99% of humanity gone as opposed to 100%.

Just an off the wall question. If an elder's wife is raped by one of the brothers and there are no witnesses will the rapist be disfellowshiped?

I was going out in field service in a remote section of our territory that rarely got visited. The people in that neighborhood were hispanic and the neighborhood looked something like tijuana. I knew spanish better than the rest of our group so I took the lead.
A sister and I approached a house and the first thing we saw was a goat hanging upside down, its throat slit, and a little girl pumping the blood out of it by grabbing it by the horns and shaking the head up and down. The sister said that she felt like vomiting. I felt like I was in another country.
I went to witness to one of the householders there, about the promise of paradise and all that spiel (the sister never puked) but the householder kept saying that she did not understand what I was trying to tell her. My spanish was adequate and she did not appear to be evasive nor insincere, just a peasant minded person who really had no clue.
We never got invited for the goatfest.

Billy the ex Bethelite: Several hundred thousand survivors can resurrect civilization by concentrating their numbers in a few towns or small cities while scavenging the rest. Stephen Kings The Stand, its silly mysticism notwithstanding, is a good example of how a handful of survivors can bring a city back to life.
If I were in such a post apocalyptic scenario I would do the same while letting most cities rot. Building a new civilization, not maintaining the old one, would be the goal of the survivors.
