  If you were offered the position to run the Watchtower....

  1) The last watchtower magazines that I would print would be dedicated solely to exposing every aspect of the organization from beginning to end. It would be the question and answer format watchtowers and I would make sure that they be studied and participated in the hall as well as distributed on the streets with one placed in every doorstep.

  2) The last watchtower would implore the brothers and sisters to (assuming they haven't done it already) leave the organization and never follow any other like it. There would also print one last book exposing the organization.

  3) I would then close down all printing presses and buildings, including Kingdom Halls, and sell them off. I would redistribute the money to every person disfellowshipped for apostacy as well as every victim of incest by a JW male. I would thus officially declare the organization dissolved.

  I believe it would be more accurate to say that it was the Enlightenment that created the atmosphere in which our current type of technology was developed. Christianity gave us the dark ages.

  As to which religious belief seems the more reasonable, I believe it still awaits us in the future. I would prefer a Pantheistic spirituality combined with the scientific method.

  Hint of Lime, "transitional" is a relative term and Homo Floresiensis was never considered a direct ancestor of Homo Sapiens but rather a side branch, very much of a side branch. As far as the rate of discovery is concerned Paleoanthropology is a very understaffed and underfunded endeavor. If we had a hundred times as much people digging for fossils we would have a wondrously detailed picture.

  Nevertheless at this point enough has been discovered to prove one basic fact, humanity, like everything else has been evolving.

  So this particular Homo (No sexually oriented pun intended) was a petite upright walking hominid who supposedly hunted giant rats and dwarf elephants.

  It's brain is more intriguing than its feet. No rocket scientist at one third our capacity but it had bulging temporal lobes. I wonder what thoughts it had other than FOOD! & F***?

  As far as its feet it's just a curiosity that could allow us to trace its ancestry one day. Not quite like Homo Erectus but definitely not like a Chimp. The big toe is much smaller and skinnier than other Homo's but more or less like ours, a foot/ foot as I like to describe it in stead of a foot/hand which is what chimpanzees have attached to their legs. This implies, for the moment, heredity from a more primitive being than Erectus.

  It also means that it must have been isolated on that Island for a long, long time. It would have made for an interesting Gilligan's Island episode.

  what was i thinking my entire life?

  during the first part about submission, everyone gave the same comments about being obedient to the elders even though you may not agree with them.

  and they talked about submission to the organization no matter what.. no one, i mean no one raised the possibility that the counsel or instructions might be wrong, or harmful.

  "Right before his talk, someone in the back of the hall started having a heart attack. I saw all of this from the 2nd school.(My goatee and earrings scare too many "freinds") Paramedics had to bee called, but not even someone in an obvious fight for his life didn't stop the f*&cking spiritual food from being dispensed. The paramedics had to keep speaking louder and louder to be heard over the comments during the "bible highlights"."

  What a wonderful witness that must have been Jack. It makes me wonder if they would step over the brother as he lays on the floor.

  i don't want hopscotch's thread diverted anymore than it has been so i'm starting this one.. this is an opportunity to speak up and let us know how you actually feel about jesus christ.

  let's face it, for good or ill he was a major influence in all of our lives.

  frankly, i think the biblical jesus is despicable and i'll be posting my views in full tomorrow after a good nights sleep.. jesus should be ashamed of himself .

  Passwordprotected, why are you trying to deflect possible criticism or negative remarks about Jesus? I and others are more familiar with Jesus than with Mohammed. Those who are ex muslim are more familiar with the Quran than we so I leave any criticism to them.

  As far as the Gospel Jesus is concerned he called a little girl a dog because she was not an Israelite. (Matthew 15:21-26)

  He cursed a fig tree for not having fruit out of season.(Mark 11:11-15)

  He cursed entire towns for not believing in his miracles.(Matthew 11:20-24)

  And there are many other contradictions that make it impossible to tease out the real Jesus-and yes there was a real Jesus because religions like this need a charismatic leader to start them. Then when their leader dies they get mythologized. Charles Russell was already being deified two years after his death in The Finished Mystery book.

  Undercover, the millenium, according to modern JW beliefs, starts in the future. The period of time after 1914 to Armageddon is separate from the millenium. It was Russel and his followers who believed that 1914 would usher the millenial blessing (Though they modified it throughout the years).

  Of course, I agree with your basic premise about the WT version of "Jesus" being an absolute failure during his "reign", premillenial or what have you.

  i met a jw this past saturday, he was doing street witnessing, he told me that the end was coming.

  i asked him when that is going to happen, and he told me that 2014 will be 100 years since satan was dismissed from heaven.

  he told me that it would'nt make sense for god to let more than 100 years "pass before ending this world".. .
