ive been lurking this site for quite a while but for some reason never could muster up the courage to post.. let me give a little background on my self.. i am 18 and male an still living with my parents.
i was baptised at 15 basically against my will (by cracking under the pressure) but only truly broke out of the drone like mindswhen i was 17. since then its been totall choas in my life all of it stemming from the orginization of course.
my parents are the defenition of brainwashed wittnesses, my father even belives he is anointed.. after i got baptised i suffered from intense deppression and with a little soul searching, after a year i realized that i need some time for my self.

i have noticed this a lot in attitudes of witness relatives i've talked with over the last few years , as well as other former witness friends i have talked to.
many witnesses feel bad about themselves due to having it drilled into them that we are all " sinners " who allegedly inherited " sin and imperfection " from adam and eve .
that essentially humans are " born dead " or in a " dying " condition due to alleged " inherited sin " .
Luke 17:7-9 (NIV): Suppose one of you had a seervant plowing or looking after the sheep. Would he say to the servant when he comes in from the field, "Come along now and sit down to eat"? Would he not rather say, "Prepare my supper, get yourself ready and wait on me while I eat and drink; after that you may eat and drink"? Would he thank the servant because he did what was told to do? So you also, when you have done everything you were told to do, should say, "We are unworthy servants; we have only done our duty.".
Unfortunately that seems to be the Christian attitude. No self worth.

some years ago me and my wife we were visited by a relative and his wife (all jws...) ... it was few days after christmass...... upon arival they gave us nicely wraped gifts ..... we joked "wow how nice of you to get us christmass gifts...!".
they replied: well it is not for christmass, but we were with our inlaws recently, and they have this nice tradition of celebrating "happy day".
they held between christmass and new years eve ... you know, its good for kids, so when kids get back to school, they are not embarassed by not having any new presents... so we thought, its neat and decided to celebrate it as well ... how do you like the idea, it is not christmass, its just a substitute...????".
How about Fireworks Day on the fifth of July?

this is a little where and when, i am not widely read in chuck russells stuff or rutherfords, the former is quite looney and the latter makes me want to up-chuck.. but i get the impression, i must admit more from isolated quotes rather than proper reading, that chuck hardly used mind-control,apart from trying to convince that his strange interpretation of scripture was correct, and even rutherford didn't use it so much, although the signs are there.. so when, and where from ,did they learn the mind control methods they use, that are so similar to all the other cults, is there a college course being run somewhere on how to build and control your own cult?.
and do the g.b take extra lessons in it, and pass them on to all members of the writing committee?
and then down the ranks, the d.os and c.os certainly use it,and i don't believe it is un-consciously,they are taught.. any ideas ?
Like Mickey mouse said "They do what works" and learn informally. However I think that refering to them as victims of victims waters down what they are. Positions of power have a strong tendency of attracting individual psychopaths which in turn transform the whole group into virtual psychopaths.

Wobble, I don't think that there's a school that they can go to and learn mind control techniques. I don't think they're sophisticated enough to search out the few books that there are on the subject like Machiavelli's book The Prince. I think it's their nature to be natural born manipulators and the similarities between their kind is nothing more than an inevitable coincidence, parallel evolution so to speak.
Now if you want to start your own cult or just want to entertain yourself with a (very thick) book on power and manipulation, I highly recommend Robert Greene's book The 48 Laws of Power and pray that this book never gets into the hands of the Bitchtower. This book is Machiavelli on steroids.

(on proofreading this, i feel that this is more preachy then i meant it.
so as a disclaimer, i hope you know that if you get that impression, that i didn't mean it that way.
having said that, this is what i feel, so if you relate to this in any way, enjoy.
Spike, your religious organization named itself, not Jehovah.

my sister told me once she likes to "police" people, that it was sort of a game she liked to play.
she is true to her word, she does just that.
always seeking the negative, rarely acknowledging positive...anything.. is this common among witnesses?
Once, in my JW dominated neighborhood, my car was having problems and its engine was smoking. One of the sisters saw the smoke and turned her head up in a gesture of pure disdain. Within a minute one of the brothers came out running dashing from cover to cover taking pictures of my smoking car with his cell phone. He probably thought that this demonized apostate that I am was engaging in a chemical attack upon their sacred neighborhood or something.

freddy franz working as the main writer/oracle under the knorr administration, came up with these very magic numbers.
he said that mankind would be 6000 years old in 1975, despite all scientific evidence to the contrary.
more importantly- somehow, he made people believe that 6000 was a magical number, necessitating the destruction of more than 99% of mankind that year even without a single scripture in his new bible (which he wrote).. oh, you may say there's scriptures that say 1000 years is as a day to god, but we aren't talking about a day or 1000 years.
DT says: "His idea of the end coming after 6000 years of human existence has been around for a long time."
Zoroastrianism appears to be the first source of millenial teaching. It dates back to at least the 5th century B.C.E..

I don't have Russells books to give a citation but I believe it was him who came up with the 7,000 years = 1 creative day.
