most of you know that my husband (iron hill) and i have been trying to do the fade from the witnesses....here's the update!
my husband's ex wife who is disfellowshipped decides all of a sudden that she wants to get reinstated - i guess cuz we decided not to go anymore - and the guilt of their daughters dying in armageddon is killing her.
but anyway, she asked us if we would be ok with her coming and taking the girls to the meetings on the weekends that are ours.....my husband denied.

Nothing surprises me about the way Elders act. Nothing.
Except, perhaps, the thread on here which is an Elder apologizing for the way he treated everyone. That was amazing.
My sister and dad were DFd without them being there by Elders with an agenda. So, it happens much more than the average JW realizes.
i was in a huge public building the other day and while waiting to use the phone, i had to sit across from someone who was a staff member of the business.
she had a rhinestone j-e-s-u-s pin on her collar.
it was about an inch tall.
Surely you have seen these people. Their conversations are absurd, spoken in platitudes that make no sense. Their phrases are ambiguous. Their faces are distorted by expressions that seem to be trance-like and fakey Pepsodent smiles and you expect them to start drooling any minute. But, apparently, these people appear normal to everyone else but me. Lately, I am seeing them more and more. They are everywhere. I feel like I am living in the wrong world, or a time warp or something. It just all seems so artificial and surrealistic.
Cameo-d--are you sure this wasn't Nancy Pelosi? Or, perhaps any other member of Congress?
Your description could be any politician I'm afraid.
Regarding your post: I can't stand it when I encounter religious stuff when I am out and about. Just leave your religion at home. Growing up JW I know all about how it can offend people.
Companies, public and private, have to walk a delicate line with employees rights with this kind of stuff. Anyone can claim religious discrimination if their rights are *stepped on* and legal fees are high. So, companies will let employees do stuff until someone complains to HR. Then companies deal with it. Like someone wearing a huge JESUS logo. Or Kosher food. On and on.

what did/do you use to cope with boredom at the meetings?.
as sad as this sounds, when i was a kid and desperate for anything to do at a meeting, i used to count the punctuation in each wt study article.
i had a system.
I drew all over the mags, the bible, the books, etc. I had doodles, notes, markings, etc. all over. My mom gave me my old books and I was shocked at how much I drew (hearts, notes, every doodle and names of bands).
if you discover, while getting to know a potential partner, that they have cheated on a previous partner........ don't touch them.
run run run.. in my opinion a cheat remains a cheat.

If someone cheats (has an affair) on their spouse, who they promised to be faithful to, and they get away with it, what are the chances they will not do it again?
I do think it depends on their personality and their circumstances.
I would bet that they would do it again. This is true for men or women. It might not be immediate, however, I believe that given the right set of circumstances they will do it-eventually.

Why is this a moral question?
Is this a law that "only" handicapped people can use those?
What about hidden disabilities? Do those count?
So, if I limp can I use it?
What about the stall with the baby changing table?
Sometimes that and the handicapped stall are the same-who gets it first? The lady in the walker or the lady with the kid with a loaded diaper?
I will add:
Who is going to be the Handicapped Toilet Police and start ticketing people for using the handicapped stall?
Or, will we have to ask Obama for a new Handicapped Toilet Stall Union for that?
