Insane.
No, I mean that.
I thought 9:30 am on Saturday was bad. Holy S&it!!!
I used to get up for work at 4:30 am. That was a paying job. I liked getting paid. $$$$$$
Insane. All for what? You poor thing. I mean that sincerely.
in my old congregation, there was a group of dubs who started field service at 4am - yes, that's 4 o'clock in the morning.
i went with them on a few occasions.. to be ready, you'd have to be up at least 3:30am to get washed and dressed and maybe get a bite to eat.. at 4am, our designated driver would show up along with a couple of sleepy eyed jws trying to "get their time in.
" many times we'd go pick up a jw only to find they forgot about service and overslept.. .
Insane.

i am currently going to school for criminal justice with a administration in human services...and boy oh boy!
you think you know it all, you been to college before and this teacher can't tell you nothing that you dont already know.
man, was i wrong (smh).
Bethel and college don't compare. I have never been to Bethel, however, I have been to college. At a university and later, as an adult while working. College/university is about learning something to help you into a career. It is a place to go and start to grow into an adult. It is a place to learn how to make decisions on your own, without your Mom and Dad. It is a place to drink beer and eat pizza-responsibily. It is a place to make new, lifelong friends. It is a place to find new loves. But mainly it is a place to learn.
Bethel is a cult training camp.
As BOTR noted, it sounds like this could be a for profit school and not an actual accredited uni. Do you know?
Also, as she noted, trying to ingest that much information so quickly may not be the best route to learning for you.
A key thing you said was "A lot of tedious reading, etc. And not the kind of stuff that people like to read about: very technical terms, formulas, etc. You have to make sure you read throughly, and I mean EVERYTHING!".
Those technical terms and formulas are the keys to your sucess. Your learning what will be a lifelong career should not be tedious. It should be exciting and interesting. If it is not why are you doing it?
Good luck!
hey all, i know that the references for 'theocratic warfare' are ancient and not considered useful.. i would like a reference to the wt saying that one does not have to give truth to those who are not worthy or something similar.. help!.
this information is for a court case.
Wow, this is a priceless piece of information and really sheds some light on some things that have been happening lately.
even if i dont really celebrate it like...i'm suppose to be going out for karokee tonight with a friend, then doing something with another friend on the 26th.
two more years and i'll be the big 3-0. man, how time passes.
just some years ago, i was just a breast fed child running wild!.
Happy Birthday!!
Aren't you glad you're out of the JWs and can lick the frosting on the cake?
i am new to this but, for years, i was already out.
don't know where to start.
as i have read the many posting, i'm not alone in my feelings.
Welcome!
So sorry for what you and most JW women go through. Please stay here and get more off your chest. It feels good.
i just heard the sad news that a very loving and kind elder for the congregation that i belonged to for 15 years just died from a heart attack.
he was someone that i had great admiration and deep respect for, even now that i'm out from the jws.
he was my mentor and an inspiration to me as an elder, and in many ways he showed me the contradictions of the wts, he was a breath of fresh air within a cult.
Your descriptions of your friend and the funeral were incredible. You showed tremendous strength in going. Entering the KH like that was brave!
Being in there listening to this boring talk got me a headache, very sleepy and dumbed down.
It's almost like people are being hypnotized, perfect conditions for indoctrination and programming the mind with cult propaganda. The people look like drones, no emotions, it was really strange in a sick way.
how dare these people!.
they pretty much force you to pioneer, not pursue a good education, become a "servant" to their whims!.
they don't want you accepting overtime at work because stupid meetings and door knocking is more important.. they accept pedophiles in their midst more than they accept anyone that questions their authority!.
Because it's a C-U-L-T.
High Control Group.
Take your pick.
there were 3 good arguments that jesus was black .
1. he called everyone "brother" .
2. he liked gospel .
loading the language is a propogandist tactic to trigger a reaction in the mind.
a prime example is the word 'apostate'!.
i have been called 'spiritually weak' for quitting field service, meetings etc.. how would you respond (without swearing or giving a punch up the hooter), if you were called this?.
"Kindly"
How often do you use that term? I'm guessing, on a average day, never.
Yet, my JW mother, uses it every damn time I talk to her. She uses the term like a regular person would use "politely" or "nice". Very annoying.
"I just did it to treat So and So KINDLY." That word is pure Watchtower speak. Treat them *kindly* and they will come. Come to what?
I. Hate. That. Word.
Oh, just thought of another:
Gluttony. Again, who uses that word? JWs, that's who.
i ask this question in harmony with deedub's swan song thread which i linked below.. http://www.jehovahs-witness.net/members/private/205902/1/time-to-say-good-bye.
to some degree, i think i understand where she's coming from.
just speaking from my own experiences since stepping into the world of anonymous apostacy, i went through a few different phases of personal outlooks.
Being raised in this religion, I know how imperfect people can treat one another all the while having a phony smile and declaring their love for Jehovah. But just because we've experienced wrong from the likes of those people, does that mean we give into to them and take all our marbles and go home? Are we possibly being childish or unreasonable by judging the entire organization based off of the actions of a few? There's more I didn't mention such as blood, and shunning...
They are phony. They have done us wrong.
We are not childish or unreasonable by judging the entire b0rg.
Because it's a C-U-L-T.
I'm dealing with a sister who is dying--she'll be dead within months. She's a DFd JW. She's an avowed Atheist. Loudly Atheist. Our mom asked me to pray to Jehovah that he and his angels watch over her. Huh? She's DFd and an Atheist. Mom knows this. Sis has not been reticent about her views.
Mom also said she told her congregation (different than the one that DFd sis) and they all are praying for her also. WTF?! I asked my mom what would happen if sis and/or I walked in that congregation tomorrow?
Uh, well....
Yeah, I know, they would SHUN us. Period. No question. And, if they knew they were being asked to pray for a DFd person, they wouldn't, would they? No, she admitted, they wouldn't.
She also said if my sis needed a blood transfusion she shouldn't get one, however, since she was DFd it didn't matter, so, she could.
I am so sick of the JWs and how they have fucked up my family. Every aspect and corner of my family life has been torched by them. Every corner. And yes, I mean torched, like by an extreme fire.
