for myself i just try to avoid them intentionally maybe see them once every couple of years on average.
they used to be easy going but over the last 10 years or so they got more cult like and distant and i'm really not bothered by that, maybe a bit.
they stick to their own or other members like they are their family so, its makes it unattractive for myself to connect and reach out to them anymore.
This is the really sad thing about being raised in the Borg.
I have relatives on my Dad’s side, who were never JWs, who we were alienated from when I was about 6...I can recall birthdays, Christmas, going to families homes for all kinds of various family events or just get togethers. Families do that, just to keep close. Not if you’re a JW. You need to keep your distance from any non-JW family and boy, did we!
The moment my Mom drank the Kook-Aid, she cut everyone off. All my Dad‘s side was immediately “Bad Associations” and not to be had in our home. And, since our grandparents were not JW, we were totally cut off from them. No longer were we allowed to see them for any reason. I was used to seeing them weekly! Suddenly, they were gone and I was told they were EVIL!
That is INSANE. I was cutoff, suddenly, for no logical reason, from a loving family.
I will never forgive my Mother for setting this Titanic in motion. It is still heading towards the glacier and I know it will end with her on the front of the ship wondering why it’s going down with her not standing in Paradise at age 35 like she was promised.
I told her recently that “Peace and Security” was BS and Armageddon was BS and hasn’t happened during her lifetime. She was shocked and keeps up with the “If I die, here is my will...”
Seriously, “If, I die”? She is in her 80’s...I’m still waiting to meet that person whose lived “forever”...
you know you're a jehovah's witness when.... being offered a scholarship to a good university is considered a bad thing.. when you see a house you like you claim it for after your god kills the owner.. you recieve spiritual guidence from a bus driver and a window washer.. you're engaged to a person you only met 3 months ago.. your widowed mother is marrying a man she met at the convention who she's known for 2 weeks.. there's jehovah's witnesses meeting in your house on a saturday morning to talk about going out knocking on doors on a saturday morning.. a lie in on a weekend happens about twice a year.. you dont talk to your own parents/children because they have a different opinion about a magazine.. you're not quite sure what you're supposed to believe anymore.. when someone criticizes your a magazine you feel like you're being attacked.. your 3yo son owns a suit.. if you're not married by the age of 30 you're considered to be gay or something wrong with you.. (for girls) if you havent married the first or second person you've dated you're considered promiscuous or something wrong with you.. you get your scientific knowledge from a magazine written by people who've never been to college and have never actually read the source they claim to be citing.. you get excited if there's a storm or natural disaster.. you get excited when there's a terrorist attack.. you get excited when there's a pandemic.. your version of tinder is the lunch break at a convention.. your girlfriend dresses like her grandmother.. your grandparents, despite being in the same religion as you, died believing totally a different belief system..
LOL at the Awake being the equivalent to a college education!!
Heard from my Mom this morning that she heard on the news the words “Peace and Security” and she asked if I understood what that meant...
I said nothing. Since it’s been said by countless politicians countless times and Armageddon hasn’t happened. She gasped and got quiet.
The JW desire to see us all fry is never ending.
the other day i went to this farm owned by this jw lady with my wife being a jw and my mother being a non witness.
later taking to my mother she noticed this vibe like this jw lady really hated her.
she just had these little slags like when we tried to pay for the fruit we picked , she looked directly at my wife and said " don't worry about it, i only charge wordly people ".. i also have this aunt who is a jw we are estranged from.
I never felt I was better than the Worldly family or friends. I envied them their freedom and ability to do what they wanted when they wanted. And, like a couple of posters above, I hated being a JW and wanted out so bad...I could see the hypocrisy and phoniness in them and realized that the worst Worldly friend I had was better than the best JW-who shunned me immediately when I drifted off.
As for family-our immediate family was JWs. Then some aunts and uncles joined. Some grandparents didn't. They were ignored and we never got to know them. Same with the other aunts and uncles who didn't. At the same time, my great-grandfather on one side was in and his wife wasn't so she was shunned. Hard. Really hard to look back on that and remember Grandma Isabell just sitting by herself at every family gathering and no one would talk to her. No one. And these were fine, loving Christian JW.
in one of the study articles from the november 2020 edition, is mentioned (free quotation):.
"don"t get disturbed if your kingdom hall will be sold".
food on the right time, i asume?.
I know my Mom is not missing going to the KH at all. She loves sitting at home doing the Zoom meetings and she really loves not having to come up with excuses for not going out in FS. If they sell off the KH in her area (unlikely, but possible) she won't miss it.
i’ve been here a long time.
i saw this site jwd/jwn.
i thought it was very lively and interesting.
I started looking at Google in the late 1990s using JW terms. I found H20 and some other sites I can't remember. I lurked here for a long time before registering. I can't remember my previous name. Been on since 2001! I tried to get various relatives to open their eyes and gave up when they asked if it was an Apostate site...
https://www.northwestfirearms.com/threads/odd-letter-in-the-mail.331854/.
I went to that forum and read their comments-pretty insightful. Most knew of or had interaction with JWs. I don't think the letter-writing campaign is going to get any new bible studies. Most seem more annoyed that their personal information is out there for any weirdo to get so easily...
so the jw's are no longer goind d2d but instead are writing letters- my question is what return address are they putting on the letters?
their own or the kh?
the kh's in our area have no mailbox and therefore no mail can be delivered or returned to a kh.. thanks in advance!.
I was inadvertently copied on one of their letters by a relative. She uses her maiden name initials as her name and uses a PO box as her address. It took me a while to determine who this person was in the letter. The letter itself was a weird witnessing with lots of scriptures. Ends with how the world is ending and they have a chance to live forever on Paradise Earth! See your dead relatives!
I actually got, in my regular mailbox, a similar letter from some whacko. No name, no religion referenced. Just weird ramblings about God, etc. Threw it in the garbage.
The relative tells me, every time I call her, about her "Witnessing by letter" and how effective it is and how many new JWs there are as a result. I grunt and say "Yes, I'm sure.." as I put the phone on mute and laugh!
hey all,.
i'm day six of isolation, confirmed to have coronavirus.
i have been seeing very sick cv positive patients over the last month in my a&e role (emergency physician) it was inevitable i would contract it.. just wanted to give some symptom and treatment advice, it's anecdotal but may help.. started as sore throat and headache, then croaky voice, then dry cough, then episodic transient fevers, all this over the first few days.
Dear Snare&Racket, really hope you are recovering and can give us all some positive news on your situation!

I literally just got this PDF from my Mom; she BCCd me on an email she sent the local Elder to prove that she is following the Society guidelines on what to do...
This is CRAZY!! I speak to her daily (she’s 800 miles away and speaks to me even though I’ve faded years ago) and she sounds like she understands what’s going on; then I get this and realize she’s completely brainwashed and won’t do a thing unless the WTBTS approves it. 🤮
