Did people with those signs outside the assemblies and meetings strengthen or weaken your beliefs?
by BonaFide inwhenever i saw people with signs against the witnesses outside the assemblies, it always strengthened my belief that the witnesses were right.. what about you?.

I'd never do that. That's what went through my mind. That and "Get a life people".

JWN Idol: What is YOUR Talent?
by cameo-d init doesn't have to be stage-worthy.. what "hidden talents" do you have?.
of all the things you do, what is it that you think you do best?.
what do you like to do that really makes you feel happy and "qualified"?.
-

I've found that I'm pretty good at irritating people. Is that a talent?

Can a JW (who is "IN" for family) be an ATHEIST?
by african GB Member ini mean how would an atheist jw go to fs to tell worldlies about jehovah while he does'nt really believe in god?.
will the holy spirit "guide" such an individual?.
will the angels "accompany" such.....?.

I was an agnostic-jw-elder-pioneer.
It always seemed to me that incompleteness is inescapable right now and until that time all one can do and do honestly is be an agnostic.

Counting Time: Is it Scriptural?
by cameo-d inwhat is the purpose of punching jehovah's timecard?.
doesn't wt psychologically imply that jehovah "owes" them paradise because they have "worked" for it?.
it seems there is a scripture somewhere about "love does not keep an accounting".. perhaps one of you can find the scriptural incidence.. .

I think everyone knows it's not right.
If it was for the purpose of knowing the truth of what was actually done then the best way would have been for the reports to have been anonymous.
I often wondered how anyone could pioneer before I'd pioneered. The key is to round up constantly. believe that Jehovah is a reasonable employer who wouldn't make you clock out when you had to go to the can, and go on long drives to the RV's that you know may or may not be there, hit some laundromats and "get your time started" asap by always having a non-baptized person you could call right after the meetings for FS. If you can eat lunch with a study then be sure to do that. Take a calligraphy class and then write calligraphic letters to not-at-homes (really slowly, by hand, praying before you draw the shape of each letter). (Be sure you count the time you stand at the post office mailing those)
I know of one pio who set his clock at home to wake him up every half hour so he could call a list of RV's at convenience stores that were working all night, and also had on his phone a mini-sermon and got up early did laundromats and all the other things mentioned rounding and rounding so that he'd easily get in 12 hours a day. He'd "get his time in" in like 3-3.5 months and cruise the rest of the year.
He was really funny and insane to boot, which is why I suppose he's disappeared.

If You Didn't Have to Count Time
by journey-on in....how many do you think would actually go out in service?
if they didn't think some elder was keeping up with their hours and number of placements, i think most witnesses would avoid it altogether.. ...also, if the brothers didn't have a corporate congregational ladder to climb, would they make any real effort?
i think many of them do it because being an elder or ms gives them a sense of accomplishment and a certain authority they otherwise would not enjoy in the mundane world.

I hope those brothers and sisters whose jobs have been outsourced by the WT though they've given their lives to them and for whom there isn't even social security because they haven't been giving to the pool and whose consolation is special pioneering ....
I hope these have the sense to engage in "Theocratic Warfare" and just put down that they've gone out the required hours (120?)
I wonder how it is that JW's can't see that turning in non-anonymous time, and keeping records of time is exactly the same as keeping a PRC (publisher's record card) on the amount of money you donate.
"Hey Sam, if you can get your donations up, I can't see anything preventing you from being a servant."
How can they not see that?

Society's use of 2 John 9-11 to justify total shunning totally wrong!
by yadda yadda 2 inthe watchtower society appears to have totally twisted the meaning of the original greek work for "greeting in 2 john 9-11 to justify not even saying a polite "hello" to disfellowshipped or disassociated ones.
the following from http://www.jwfacts.com/index_files/disfellowship.htm sums it up very nicely:.
"likewise the term to never say a greeting to him needs to be understood in light of first century practice.

yadda, the FDS isn't. They are Antichrist in their teachings. (I list)
1. Jesus isn't your mediator.
(do my prayers go in the shredder?)
2. The FDS is the "channel".
(oh, you mean go-between, or mediator? I thought that was what Jesus role was? Do I pray to the FDS now or just the GB?)

May 15th Watchtower - Faithful Slave = Jehovah & Jesus = Listen to GB
by flipper inonce again our lurking jw friend sent us the " witness only " version of the may 15th watchtower and i picked out the thought and " mind controlling " statements i thought you folks would be interested in seeing in order to see how blatant the control is being exerted these days.. first in an article called " youths - make your advancement manifest " notice the blatant way the wt society compares itself to jehovah.
and then how they insult the young people.
it states in paragraph 13, " why do i want to get married ?

This promotes:
Organizational Idolatry
Antichrist Teachings (instead of Christ) "The FDS is the vicar of Christ, and we should pay heed when they speak ex cathedra."
(I was a catholic, and this is exactly what they are - WT versions of "his holiness the pope")
Extortion by Those in Authority
The Insight on The Scriptures says:
"EXTORTION
The act or practice of taking or obtaining anything from an unwilling or reluctant person by illegal use of fear, whether by force, threats, or any other undue exercise of power. The basic sense of the Greek word rendered ‘extortioner’ (har'pax) is “snatcher.” (1Co 5:10, Int) The Bible repeatedly warns against any seeking of unjust gain, particularly on the part of those in responsible or official positions.—Ex 18:21; Pr 1:19; 15:27."They engage in the rape of the individual conscience. They try to extort confessions of faith through fear and intimidation.
I refuse to offer a pinch of incense to them.
They are nothing.

Solomon: Sex Addict or Shrewd Businessman?
by cameo-d inthe scriptures say that solomon turned away from 'god' in his later years and this is attributed to the influence of his wives.. how can this be correct?
it seems that from day one solomon had no special affection for 'god's laws' to have so many wives in the first place.. most people would expect 700 wives and 300 concubines to be high maintainence.
wouldn't you think there would be an awful lot of cat fights and chaos?.
-
gubberningbody
I suspect these were business marriage alliances. On the other hand having this many wives would certainly make it difficult for Satan to manipulate the elimination of the potential heir to the kingdom if solomon had many, many sons.

No. I rather think that this whole thing has been taken too far. It seems that organized religion is always straining out the gnat and gulping down camels. Jesus was a Jew, his apostles were Jews, he knew they'd keep abserving the passover so he said to keep doing this small thing every year when they had the passover. It was "remember me and my life and what this is all about brothers", and they did.
I'm not a Jew, I don't keep passover and so there's no reason for me to consider it as a group in a congregation. I will note the fact with some sobriety that night, but I'll do it alone.
I still don't see anything which suggests that somehow that eating a wafer and sipping some wine is supposed to mean that only anointed are to partake. Moreover I'm not sure what I believe about "anointed" or even 144k any more. I'm having to read the Bible all over again without WT theology (or anyone elses) in my head.
