  A thought just occurred to me about prior to the creation of the universe

  There are problems with the so-called creation event of the "Big Bang", namely that though we cannot know what happened before this event, we cannot say that this event was THE begining, though certainly it was A, beginning. "The" begining of our universe is actually as "ho"-less as is John 1:1.

  The time-space continuum may very well be as recursive in its dimensions as a Klein bottle or a Mobius strip. We could in point of fact be reusing time-space even as we speak and though we are uncomfortable with infinity, it may very well be that this whole thing is tied off in a rather large and rolling loop and as each loop loops, some different combinations occur. This may also be happening in parallel looping time-space structures. The whole may be permeated with mind as a substance of sorts that becomes aware of at times and agnostic at other times with regard to its own fractured nature perceiving "others", when no "others" exist, except from a relative and finite perspective.

  It's true Jeff. JW's are a "theatrical spectacle" to themselves alone.

  No one else cares.

  I was thinking that the same thing "We" used to say about newbies to the "Truth" applies to those who've realized something was "up"...

  

  We should wait two years before talking to anyone.

  That way you won't sound crazy.

  In any case the "Lie" has many facets and "The Truth" is just one facet of this dark diamond.

  SURVEY: Is a JWN members post count a reasonable indicator of their theist/atheist position? If so what can be learned from that?

  i've done no research on this but i suspect that a members belief or absence of belief in god may have some correspondence with the number of posts he or she has made.. my tentative suggestion is that members with fewer than 500 posts are mostly believers while members with more than 3000 posts are mostly non-believers.

  of course there are exceptions, maybe quite a few, but i'm only dealing with generalities here.

  so how about a survey?

  ive added a new article to my blog showing a statement one of watchtowers lawyers made to medical researchers about jehovahs witnesses deciding privately to accept transfusion of blood.

  i think readers will find his assertion rather surprising; but maybe not.

  Well I was removed from the PVC , (I surmise) because of a reply to a question put to me by a doctor in an exchange in a certain Medical Journal.

  The question was a follow up to the point about the fact that a bag of "acceptable fractions", such as hemoglobin would look red and indistinguishable from whole blood.

  What would my response be as a PVC member?

  I said that "I would make no inquiry on account of my conscience", and that any real "sins, which were secret would become revealed", and that I would pray with them and focus on their health and well-being and if at some point they personally felt the need to discuss something with me or other elders on account of "their conscience", then that would be up to them. Jesus didn't spy on Judas, and I wouldn't spy on my brothers and sisters.

  This was apparently NOT in keeping with WT policy. I was on the platform giving a part at the service meeting when a visibly agitated brother at the back of the hall beckoned for me, so when I finished, I met him in the parking lot. He was visibly upset and said that Bethel wanted me off the PVG/HLC immediately and that I was not to be party to that affair indefinitely.

  Nothing was done to me, I continued to serve as an elder, and no explanation was given to me or the local HLC (that I was aware of) as to the rationale.

  (Of course there's a bit more to the story, and some day I'll spill it)

  I walked out of an Elder's Meeting

  well here goes... i apologize in advance if this turns into a long and disjointed rant, but i just have to begin typing in order to keep from exploding.

  i realize that what im about to say could seriously jeopardize my anonymity, but i think ive reached the point that i just dont care.

  i want this to be over.. let me explain what caused me to rip up a letter and get up and walk out in the middle of an elders meeting two weekends ago.. our boe has been embroiled in a nasty fight for the past 2 years over a certain brothers business dealings.

  Greetings,

  You'll find many elders, ms's and pio's here, bethelites, missionaries and pubs who all found their fill and had to leave.

  The leaving only starts with the organization, you'll find.

  The light get's brighter the further away you go because the "light" of the "Truth" is darkness, and "how great that darkness is".

  most of us here know what a hypocritical, backstabbing bunch of gossips many of the jw's tend to be.

  far too often, a jw wont tell you to your face what's eating them, but they'll sure tell others.

  when i started waking up (the second time around) this made me very paranoid.

  There are n+1 ways to look at this:
  
  1. The traditional way, which would be to say that as creator you get to make the rules.
  
  2. The existential way, which would be to say that the word "rights" has reference to the self, and if there exists a "self", as we imagine in the case of a sentient being then there would be "rights" as viewed from the perspective of that "self" and "rights" as viewed by the creator.
  
  3. "Rights" also imply another form of existential explanation, and this is the matter of construction. If one is constructed so as to not only be sentient, but to also have "free will", albeit limited, then one would necessarily have the "right" to at least think one thing and perhaps do or not do it. That ability to think would allow that you exercised your "rights" in at least that regard.
  
  ...
  
  The final thing to consider is that the business of being a creator does not mean that you yourself might not have a creator.
  
  
  The uber creator might have been designed in such a way so as to imagine that it was the uber-all-that-is, but in point of fact was not. It could believe it to be true, but lacking any evidence outside itself we could say that this being would lack justified true belief.
  
  It could not know with any grounds for knowledge beyond itself. In a sense then would be less able to justify its own ideas than one that existed within the realm of that particular being, for example you and me.
  
  It would have no more "rights" than those of any being it ostensibly created.
  
  How can any being really know that it is experiencing what is real?
  
  How could a professed uber-being-without-any-beginning really know that its thoughts in this regard were in fact true?
  
  It could very well be that this being was being tricked, and was nothing more than a disembodied brain in a vat, subject to the illusions of its own matrix, but unable to wake up.

  I got contacted, baptized that year, MS within a year,regular pioneer that year, then nine years of pioneering and MS-ing, finally an elder/pioneer, field service overseer, school overseer and that for the next 16 years and then I quit while I was still an elder.

  setting is obviously in the "new system", i'd say quite some time after the big a. everything looks neat and clean, so it can't be just few months or even years after the big slaughter.. let me point out few things that made me laugh:.

  every effort was made to depict natural materials, but you see leather straps with metal rivets holding the picnic basket lids.
