hey all, hope you're having a great year so far.. before witnet was closed down, there was an interesting discussion regarding the fds and their failed prophecies.
i asked a question, but unfortunately there wasn't enought time to get everyone's view.. so i'll rephrase my posts, and wait to hear from y'all.. if we are so quick to say that the fds is a false prophet because of some failed prophecies (even tho they say they don't prophecy, we all know better) then how would you explain the bible book of jonah?.
a faithful prophet, jonah, followed (after much trial and tribulation to himself) jehovah's command to declare destruction on the city of nineveh.

I would say that it possibly COULD be a matter of Jehovah changing his mind, but JWs have been looking at the same scripture since the 50-60s, and the changes are mostly in Bible interpretation that causes changes in teachings, etc. e.g. "New Light".
My personal inclination is that the WTBTS appointed themselves the FDS. Only time will tell if their will is indeed God's will.

I think you are right. I think you truly believe what you believe. Why don't you sit down and write on paper every single thing that you believe, and put it in a drawer somewhere for safe-keeping.
After that, put down your Bible, go outside and look at the sky above. Take a deep breath, and enjoy the sunshine/moonlight (whichever you prefer.) Go inside and fix yourself a warm bowl of soup, and eat it slowly as you watch something totally unrelated to religion at all on the TV. Animal Planet is my personal favorite. The key is to NOT watch anything involving theology.
The goal here is to turn OFF the part of your brain that seems to be getting overworked, which is the part that houses a belief in a higher power.
After you've relaxed for a few hours, come back on this website and do a search for your name (be sure to show all topics from last year to get all of them). Read them in chronological order by date, one after another. Pretend that you are someone else listening to your words, and ask yourself about how you feel seeing the things that you've said, and you will see why everyone is so defensive.

Here is my angle: If you CAN give me proof, I must ask myself: "How many people could have come to the SAME CONCLUSION by reading the scripture you recite?"
Do you remember the WACO Texas incident with the Branch Davidians? "David Koresh" practically thought he was an earthly genetic pre-cursor to Jesus Christ's return.
He had PROOF of this, and ALL of it was in scripture. He used the same scripture to justify having his way with many women to latter "ressurect" Jesus. He also claimed to have the understanding of the seven seals of God in Revelation. He was stock-piling weapons and ammo, ready for armageddon.
Where is this "precursor to Jesus" now?

Want to hear something pathetic? No Doubt many of his ex-followers still believe that children they had from him could be Jesus, or of lineage to his 'rebirth'. What a pitty, as they are far from the WAY that Jesus proclaimed himself.
NOTHING is wrong with reading scripture and making an interpretation. Think about this... Did you KNOW you would be in the "position" you claim to be now, or did you DECIDE to take up that position since it did not yet exist on earth (according to your interpretation)?
The people here who are having problems LISTENING to your message have gone through the psychological traumas of hearing 'truth' and knowing 'truth'. They are now in REALITY and are VERY reluctant to listen to another who very well may be a "false lamb, misleading many".
You seem to have an ego about your intellect. I remember you telling others to refute your arguments in scripture, and you took extreme delight in them NOT being able to do so (in your opinion). You remind me of my old JW friend, who considered himself humble, until "preachin' time" came around. He then had an ego the size of a house because he had the 'truth'.

if not jehovah's witnesses, then who else could possibly have his approval?.
what i would like to know is if jehovah has always had an organization, who were they?

Too much knowledge of God can be dangerous, especially if 3/4 of your knowledge is a BIG FAT PRESUMPTION. You align yourself beside Jesus, yet you are a mere man. Sounds like the POPE to me. Are you on medication? Maybe for depresion? Maybe you suffer from bipolar disorder. Have you been taking Zoloft? That drug is known to have psychosymatic effects on certain individuals. Perhaps you are a crack or cocain addict. Perhaps you are mentally diseased.

So, are you now to follow in Russell's footsteps? Because you disagree with common interpretation, will you too suddenly decide that you have been chosen? Is this yet another 'self-fulfilling prophetic notion'? Will you gather followers, and later re-interpret your interpretations, and deem it 'brighter light'? If the '70 year' prediction then does NOT come to pass, then will you re-interpret your interpretation yet again? Will you then die, and others continue on, forming their own religion? What would they call themselves, maybe "Jehovah's True Witnesses"? Are you then the 'true' FDS? Let's look at the relationship summary now...

was really suprise to find out how some of jw's feel.
some have, like the single mom, have such a negative experience with them.
To STRUGGLE...
One thing that I have noticed about the JW religion is that in it's attempt to completely separate itself from xtianity it sometimes makes you forget things that many hold dear...
1 Timothy 2:5 "For there is one God, and One mediator between God and men, a man, Christ Jesus, ..."
STRUGGLE, ONE God, ONE Mediator. Noone goes to the Jehovah but through Jesus. It doesn't say, SOME MEN, it doesn't say MEN WHO ARE ANNOINTED, it says simply, MEN. You are as human as any member of the governing body. If you don't think so, then shame on 'the society' for putting themselves beside their MEDIATOR. The faithful and discreet slave is to SHARE KNOWLEDGE, not to SHARE RESPONSIBILITIES with Jesus.
