by MoodyBlue ini have a question.... if the elders "catch wind" of something that could be a df'ing offense, and they ask for a judicial, if you don't show up or refuse to talk to them, can they disfellowship u in absence??
if they can, is there any legal action that can be taken against it?.
i've been threatened by my jw husband (we are separated) because i've met someone else...he is threatening to tell the elders i'm dating someone else ( though as of yet, no "fornication" has occured and it's long distance) if i don't write a letter of disassociation.

) that 2,000 have left "the truth" in the past two years in australia.
this typical congregation of 120 publishers has lost 19 inactive since 1999.. the march 2001 issue of kingdom ministry (australian edition) gives the number of publishers for december as 58,426, pioneers 3,315 and 19 baptized.. in dec '98 there were 58,706 pubs,and in dec '99 there were 58,000.. with 1,600-1,800 being baptized each year, there is indeeed a 2,000 shortfall.. so, who's to blame?

Fact: Larc, myself, and many others see a sick young man who goes by the handle Logical who needs plenty of uplifting and encouragement from fellow humans (and perhaps some medication, but who knows with the adverse effects that his previous meds had on him). In the chat the other night, YOU came into the room and asked him how his latest JW study went, and you only stayed long enough to find out what his scriptural argument to them would be, then YOU LEFT. YOU WEREN'T AROUND TO HEAR LOGICAL SAY "Where is MDS?" "Why doesn't he come back?" One can only speculate where you were, but you definately weren't there for him. He even told me himself that you "didn't stick around long enough to find out" how he was feeling.
All you need to see, the name "MDS," ... and you just jump right in there, without having any facts of any kind.
I have my reasons to "jump right in there", as you say, and you could find those reasons out if you just asked Logical, because I have told them to him.
Now, go on an ask him. If he tells you TRUTHFULLY what I told him for my reasonings of distrust/dislike of you, then I would like to see you come up with a scriptural reason to demonize me for CARING FOR ANOTHER'S WELL-BEING.

or are you still planning on going, even if it's to say g'day to long "lost" friends?.

This aspect is what I find disturbing. If I were a JW who felt I was "annointed", then I'd better be prepared for the ridicule that comes with the claim. (mentally ill, self righteous, etc.)

Also, I agree with you re: Jesus' teachings. It's sometimes very hard to reconcile Paul's and John's writings about Jesus. As the apocrypha was dropped for contradicting other scripture, I wonder if any other book(s) currently in the Bible could fit the same category. *shrug*

I hear what you are saying, but it seems to me that the Pharicies had an exact set of laws that they were following in scripture, while the GB has interpolated most of their laws and made them ad-hoc to befit the distribution of literature. One was following Law, the other created a new one.
