  i'm having my sister over this weekend to hang out and bake (i know, i'm such a party animal .

  i have nothing against this friend of my sisters, so i don't want to make a fuss.

  i think what's pissing me off is the double standard that just happened.

  Lurk3r, no, I don't think it'll be just one thing to make the lightbulb go off. She's not even Kinda seein' the light.

  As a sidenote, the reason for the cupcakes were to hang with the sis but also to make something for a kid's party she was throwing for all the jw kids. she said she'd really love for me to come, so I did. It was a lil boring, but nice....UNTIL one of 'sisters' was talking to my sister and I overheard her say "yeah, I don't need to guard my stuff since this its just jw's here"....

  I thought to myself "yeah, cuz there's aLways a robbery & theft at the other parties I attend" I just decided it was time to leave and let people enjoy the kickass cupcakes (which they did!)

  Well, I mentioned my issue to her, and it didn't go like I wanted it too. I felt worse afterward. It was kinda like she just kept explaining WHY its different....went a bit off subject with all the "possible" scenerios that "could" happen if it were one of MY friends. And then I jumped right back, defensively saying stuff like 'well, I don't remember the last time my friends came over and got hammered' or 'if you were out with us and they all wanted to go to a nightclub and you didn't wanna go, they would respect your decision'....anyway, it went round and round in circles. On a BRIGHT NOTE , the cupcake making went fantastic. Thanks Lurk3r for the idea!

  ok, here's my problem.... this weekend is my fiancee's district assembly, and she is attending.

  i am suppoused to accompany her sat.

  I agree with Blondie...I went to an assembly after I had decided it wasn't the troof, and it was the craziest thing ever. She will see for herself, although it may be a huge stuggle since she has so many "friends" in the faith. And you can't control what she does, I'm sure you know that. It's probably a little jealousy, but probably just uncertainty on your part. I wouldn't worry...

  I probably will do the sesame seeds...I figure you won't be able to taste the little sprinkling that goes on top. and it makes it soooooo much more REAL looking! Thanks for the advice, folks. Now its not even really a big deal in my head, I will just mention it tomorrow morning when I see her. I don't think she's bringing back-up, but who knows ...I think if she needed back-up, she'd bring a family member

  i'm totally computer illiterate, but i'd appreciate it if somebody could post the youtube video for adele's "chasing pavements" and for leona lewis's "better in time"?

  every time i hear either one of those, i can't help but thinking of my family who is still in the jw's.

  we all somehow escaped at least mentally a cult.

  considering that most of us were brainwashed, i find this very incredible.

  it is extremely difficult to get people out, sometimes impossible, but we all somehow made it!.

  It restored my faith in my instincts, in my abilities to reason, to see the real truth, and to stand up for myself. Up until recently, I did not have any real specific facts. Now I know that my suspicions when I was a teenager were correct.

  I believe it has made me stronger as I have had to use proper reasoning and principles to explain to my parents why things weren't correct with the WTS. Dang, I couldn't have put that better myself. We almost had a pseudo double-post...glad I read the previous comments first!

  I was taught to second guess myself ALL the time. Everything I did was wrong, according to my elders. I'm proud of myself for realizing that I'm really not that rebellious at all. However, when I feel like something is worthwhile, I now fight for it without feeling guilty.
