Sad Michael should really read Steven Hassan's Book COMBATTING CULT MIND CONTROL...Jehovah's Witnesses aren't even mentioned in the book. It's NOT about Jehovah's Witnesses, Michael, so you can read it. The book is about a cult the author was in and he describes what cults are. He makes mention of a LOT of different cult-like religions, but never mentions the jw's. its a very interesting book to read, Michael. Albert, you are so right....children do believe everything they are tought (until a certain age, hahaha<----so true, so true). I think you are doing the right thing.

Regarding Elders Snooping On Facebook, MySpace & Other Sites
by minimus ini was reading the thread of how an elder parent was snooping on his daughter's facebook.. i believe that many jws, not just elders probably snoop around to see what some witnesses are doing, whether they be inactive, disassociated or active.. do you think jws "snoop" on the internet or if they have access to your computer, do you think they'll try to uncover something about you?.

There are so many ways, especially on Facebook, so only show what you want to. Like, I have JW's on my Facebook, but they are in a certain "jw" category/group so they cant see certain pictures or ex-jw groups that I am part of. So there! Its more just about privacy. I also have patients on there as well and they are in the "clients" category/group so they cant see lots of my stuff too

my husband and I are on the last (10th) day of the Master Cleanse Fast. So far we've each lost about ten pounds. But we also exercised through the whole thing, so we wouldnt lose any muscle. I think your new way of eating sounds very healthy. You go boyyyyyy!

A bit obnoxious, but kinda funny and DEAD ON. LOL...I like minute 4:48 where he says Steven Hassan said JW's were not a cult....UNTIL HE REALIZED THAT THEY ARE! Hehe, thanks for sharing.

It hit me the other day, when I was contemplating life....I was a jw for twenty years and I was trained to second guess myself. ALL THE TIME. No matter what I did, I needed to re-think. Make sure I wasn't being rebellious. Make sure I wasn't 'wrong', which they usually said I was. Now I'm thirty (been faded for 12 years), looking back. I remember all those times when people would tell me (post jw-world) that i'm such a nice person, so smart, but that I always second guess myself. I never put two and two together until just a few days ago. It was programmed in me. It's crazy how you think you're free from them, and they just subconsciously bite you in the butt. By the way, I've come a LOooooong way and dont second guess myself nearly as often as I used to

by BonaFide inyes, i finally started reading that book.
he mentions jehovah's witnesses several times, and uses it as an example.. there is no way in the world i could have read this book before, and even if i did, i bet i would have thought that other groups are cults.. not anymore.. thanks, people.

i'm so shy......ok, I'll play . I always care,in one on one situations. When in a crowd, I could care less about shitchit chat....but in smaller groups, I'm very good at listening and showing empathy. When I finally let down my wall and start trusting you, you will see my cute yet sarcastic sense of humor. My laughs are sincere. If your jokes arent funny, I dont laugh. I don't beat around the bush, yet I'm the first one to give a well deserved compliment. I kinda feel like I'm trying to fill in the blank on eharmony.com, hehe.

is it really worth trying to change their minds?
by homeschool inafter reading steven hassan's book, i really believe the jw's are in a high mind control group, like so many other cult-like religions.
one point stuck out to me though....hassan said he will not do interventions if the purpose is selfishly motivated.
i don't know why, but it's made me question some things.

steve2, i TOTALLY see what you are saying. TOTALLY agree as well....except....i think about how I wanna whenever they try to 'warn' me or 'uplift' me or share their cult-like knowledge with me....
I don't want to have the same effect. My point is to get them outta there, not just make them hear what I'm saying.

Thanks to all of you. Very good comments. Leavingwt, I thought I was happy too, until I realized that Christmas and Birthdays made me REALLY happy. And I thought I was happy...until someone who really WAS happy showed me what happiness is. I guess I'll just do what everybody above mentions....throwing subtle comments here and there. The main people I am concerned about are under 35 years old. While I would LOOOOOve to change my parent's minds, I realize it's probably not gonna happen. So that's my 2 cents
